Ollie came out of holding kennels today. He's in a bit of state as he has damage to his cruciate. We won't know how much damage there is until he is x-rayed later this week. Injuries like this one are very delicate and can be very expensive. We have funds, but are crossing our fingers that this is not a worse case scenario. The Rescue has taken on two dogs with breaks in two weeks, and we can't sustain this sort of intake as we are only a little Rescue. So fingers crossed everyone. Ollie is presently in Hampshire overnight, getting some well deserved tlc and then will be going up to Buckinghamshire tomorrow to Nina for fostering.

Well, Ollie is now here with me, and I have to say he is just wonderful He was respectful around Percy (sensible decision) and very waggy around Millie (not such a sensible decision, but she was prepared to tolerate it just this once!). So definitely dog friendly He is all a bit overwhelmed by things at the moment. I tried to take a photo of him, but the flash scared him a bit, so he came over and sat by me for reassurance. And then he just stayed there, leaning in, enjoying a gentle stroke. Totally gorgeous, and good natured despite everything. I'm already more than a bit in love with him

He is so scrummy. I know I'm a sucker for Collie X's but there's something extra special about this boy Our Betty (Collie Saluki X) had her Anterior (?) Cruciate Ligament reattached (as well as another ligament in her leg - can't remember the name though) about 18 months ago and, although she does limp a bit if she over does it, she leads a very normal lurcher life and can keep up with Kasa (almost all Saluki ) when she wants to. She's not on any medications for it either. Nothing can be decided without X-rays but, with modern surgery and physio, there's lots of hope that he won't have to have the leg amputated.

Well done Jayne and all involved in the travels for this boy ;D. I hope he is good for you tonight, I felt really bad when you were missing Josh but so glad you have another stinky boy now! He is a looker and the picture of him cuddling up to you is wonderful, he knows he is safe now.

Thanks for the thanks, but I'm not sure I deserve it as Nina (Callypeps) is actually doing the fostering - I was just the emergency hotel room!! Anyway, Ollie is now on his way there, having had a much needed bath. He didn't make a peep all night, and has shown himself to be housetrained, although has felt the need to scent mark a few times (well, what's a dog to do when other dogs have clearly done it before ) He's a bit of a heartbreaker, this boy. He came rushing to me this morning when I called him in the garden, then stopped about 6 feet away as if he wasn't sure how close he should come. Later on, when the army started firing in the distance, he came and snuggled in to my side for reassurance. He seems to really need people, but at the same time be just a bit scared of them. I think when he finds his human, he will love them wholeheartedly and deeply.
