Had a phone call from Nina's Vet tonight. I have been wondering if he has already had the cruciate done once and it has gone again. Anyway, the plan is to knock him out on Tuesday, take X-rays and see what the damage looks like. David is pretty sure that is operable as there is no large swelling. My rather crude interpretation is - To stretch to separate between the thigh bone and the cruciate and check the cruciate out. If all looks good then clean out the ligament. He will stitch up the joint and a stay will be placed around the joint and it will be tensioned and crimped enough to allow it to flex but hold it in place. Then we pray that it stays there. He is going to need 12 weeks re-couperation, and at least six weeks on lead walks and then six weeks with very limited off-lead, and no pelting around. They have given us a ball park figure, but have said they won't charge for the neutering as we are a Rescue. £700-800, hopefully less than £1,000 all in on everything including x-rays. (phew!) I am relieved. So, we need that end of November auction now as we still have Joe to sort out.

Always up for an auction but I wish that it wasn't because dogs need vet treatment It would be much nicer if they just needed treats & toys

hope all will go well for Joe's operation, and it will be a success, so relieved to hear they can do something to help him , and he will cope well with the ,long recovery period after bring on the auction, we are ready but of course echoing what you have already said Fran, it is sad that is for dogs who are needing treatment

Please can we have lots of get well thoughts and wishes for our beautiful foster Ollie, who is going into the vets tomorrow for repair to his damaged leg. He is such a nervous boy, and i am going to hate leaving him there. We all love you Ollie, and will be eagerly waiting to bring you back home as soon as we can.

thankyou all for your thoughts for Ollie. I have just phoned the vets, and Ollie has had his op on his leg, been neutered, and chipped, and although still bit groggy, has come round nicely......Thank goodness, been thinking of you all day Ollie dog. i have no further details at the moment, as the vet has rushed off to another branch, but the nurse said he left a message to say that he would be calling me later. Lets hope it is only good news from now on. Ollie has to stay overnight at the Vets, but i am so looking forward to collecting tomorrow, so he knows he has not been abandoned again. will let you all know when i receive any further update.

just had latest update : the operation to mend the cruiate has gone very well. the xrays showed that the cartiledge on the left knee, was also very loose, so they have had to remove that. for the next 6 weeks it will be lead exercise only, and that means just going out on the lead to do the necessary toiletting, then providing things going well, the following 6 weeks, we will be able to build up the lead walks a little. we have to avoid any slippery surfaces, so my cream carpets throughout, will actually be a bonus now, as laminate flooring could not be so good for him right now he is on anitibiotics, anti inflammory meds, and currently painkillers every 3 hrs or so. Poor baby, bet he is so so sore i can phone in the morning, and then hopefully they will let me know what time he can come home. Wont be long Ollie
