Well Ollie is now here and so far settled in lovely. First of all, many thanks to Jayne and Laylah, for their part in getting him here, and anyone else involved, he is the most lovliest boy, and so worth everyones efforts to give him the future he deserves As Laylah said, travelled really well, but almost quite emotionless, you could almost see in the the poor boys eyes, where am i going now once we arrived home, we decided to bring finlay out first, and take them both for a walk. Ollie was so pleased to see Finlay, he obviously loves the company of other dogs, although i do think he is going to be a people dog, once he knows he can trust them. Ollie walked beautifully on the lead, ...albeit on 3 legs, but when we were throwing the ball for fin to chase, Ollie quite clearly would have loved to join in.........one day babe Cally, Fin, and Robbie have all welcomed Ollie here, and so far, so good Ollie has had a good dinner, and tomorrow we are off to the vets first thing in the morning, and at this time, a follow up appointment friday for xrays and neutering. Ollie has such a lovely nature, but quite nervous, almost not daring to trust, comes to be stroked, then hesitates, not knowing whether to trust us or not. He is not unlike Ralphy, who we also fostered, those same little eyebrows. Laylah... thankyou for the large crate. Its great for Ollie, and he quite likes being in there, we leave the door open, and he comes and goes as he pleases. He is currently sat by my side, and not panting as much as earlier, hopefully more relaxed now. I have started taking a few photos, and will try and get some on soon, (vis jenny, cos i'm useless ) I will let you all know how it goes tomorrow, but i think Friday will be the day when we will know more. Thanks again all, and from Ollie xxxxxx

just to update on Ollie, Ollie had a brilliant first night, and not a peep from him. we left the house this morning at 7.20am for our 8.20 appointment. Got there 8.20 exactly, traffic horrendous as usual, but Ollie is quite content travelling. Ollie weighed in at 24.6 kg, and a thorough inspection followed. He is now not going back to the vets tomorrow, but instead is booked in for Tuesday, when he will have xrays on his leg, which will confirm what damage there is, then can be repaired at the same time, and also he will be neutured at that time. This way he will only have to go under anasetic once. It is likely he will have to stay in overnight, and definatley if it is confirmed cruciate damage. Ollie is such a lovely dog, but very quiet, and i get the feeling that he is really missing someone. He is house trained, so must have lived with someone. I have had a look on the doglost site to see if anyone has lost a dog resembling Ollie, but havent found anything so far, but if anyone knows any where else to look, it would be worth checking. Oddly, on his leg, he has a scar where an intravenous drip has been attached. The hair has not fully grown over it, to me it looks quite a recent shaved area, but only time will tell, if the hair grows over it anymore, then confirming it is indeed recent. Our vet also said it had been doen by a lefthanded vet, otherwise its usually done on the other leg. If only he could tell us what he has been through. He loves his crate, and obvioulsy feels very secure there, he is quite nervous, and hates loud noises. Even our dogs barking worry him, and he will go scuttling back to his crate. I wonder is he used to living with another dog, as he was initially so pleased to see fin when he arrived here, almost as if he thought it was a dog he knew, but since then, he hasn't reacted one way or another to any of them. I have sent some photos to Jenny, and i am sure she will put them on the site for me, when she has time to breathe. i will keep you all updated with ollies progress. as soon as i know anymore.

When I saw the shaved needle mark on his leg, I wondered whether his owner had taken him to the vet, got x-rays of his leg, realised it was going to be expensive to treat, so dumped him somewhere......
Anyway, let's see what Tuesday brings. In the meantime, give him a hug from me, because I think he's probably my ideal dog (I've always wanted a collie but somehow end up with lurchers instead!!)

I've been back as far as February on Doglost and haven't seen him.... but it's heartbreaking to see how many dogs have gone missing.

hi all, yeah he definatley seems a little more settled today, and was very pleased to see us this morning when we got up. although our other dogs sleep upstairs with us, i think Ollie prefers the security of his own bed and space, and also, once he has had his op on his leg, he is going to have to be very careful afterwards, and stairs will be a no no for a while, so i an not encouraging him to go upstairs at the mo. We have been for a nice walk at lunchtime, all 4 dogs together, bit wet and soggy out, but he walks well considering, and enjoys a gentle stroll, with the others. the only trouble is when he cocks his good leg, he topples, because the bad leg wont hold him. He dosent seem to get the hang of squatting yet, which would be perfect for him He is just such a perfect boy so far, and a real pleasure to have. .....he hasnt even barked yet,..... such a beautiful boy
