Very sweet event just now ...we were all sitting playing with the three dogs whilst on the kitchen floor ... Alfie and Suki started howling to each other. The reaction and facial expressions on Wilson were so adorable. He was next to me anyway but huddled closer and sat down looking at them both, ears erect and then started howling himself. Went on for a bit, then loads and loads of gentle kisses for Alf and the 'sofa game' for a little bit for Suki.
He was soon back to rushing around finding out what is happening, things to do, places to investigate.
All piddles and poos, except one piddle late evening, were outside yesterday. Have to keep an eye on him going to the door and sometimes encourage him out but most of the time he dashes out and as I have said before just enjoys sitting on the grass looking around and listening.
Getting much better in his crate. I tend to put a little kibble in his bed then gently talk to him ... I am sure there are those who might think this will give him nightmares!! ... he likes to then have his rag or toy to chew which we play with together ... nibbling of hands however gently at this time ...he soon relaxes into his bed and nods off whereupon I drape the covers around the door and shut him in. It only takes about ten minutes.
A dear, loving, confident, so eager to please little chap.

Bless his cotton socks. I bet his howls sounded so cute. He really seems settled now.

He is Heather. All thanks to all the hard work Lesley put in for all the babies. Do pop over if you fancy.
He knows sit, getting there with stay and wait, teaching him go to sleep, definitely knows No, knows Wilson here which he does beautifully whilst carrying a toy or ball but not so good when he is having too much fun but getting there, knows enough and getting there with gently but depends upon the type of game. Happy waggy tail when we say Good Boy Wilson.
Have not put a collar or lead on him.
He is sleepy now so off to watch the Rugby.

Nancy, it is lovely to read your posts and hear about all the love and care your giving little Wilson. Esther will sit and come when called, very obedient, but what a bundle of energy and excitement, gets easily distracted. My two deerhounds are great with her especially Ralph, don't know what I'd do without them. They are quiet and calm and she observes them. Still can't get to grips with putting photos on here. Wishing you a peaceful night. XXX

Another lovely day with this dear little chap.
All poos outside and most of his wees too except for about three positioned well on the mat. Amazes me how so soon after he has done one wee he can then go off and do another.
Wilson adores Alfie who is the recipient of loads of kisses during the day. He and Suki enjoy some super games ... rather noisy at times. They were having so much fun that I think Alf was feeling left out as he went off to find Wilsons 'special' toy which he trotted over with and promptly dropped it in front of Wilson. Well, this certainly did the trick as Wilson, quick as a flash, ignored his playmate and grabbed 'his' toy. Interesting to watch.
The trio have had a few howling sessions today which was sweet.
A visitor today commented on how much gentler his nipping is ... he can be very boisterous at times but is getting to know gentle and No and is responsive to both.
Absolutely brilliant when he went into his crate this evening. I do feel like a clucking mother hen. All went out for their wees, whilst I popped a few pieces of kibble onto his bed, in he goes and I bend in too as he likes to gently nibble my fingers as well as his little chew which he brought with him from Sheila and Roy and I repeat 'bed time' and 'go to sleep'. He just got up, changed position and curled up. I shut the door, pulled his curtains and that was that. Not a peep. So pleased for him. I expect we might have to be up later for a wee stop.
See what exciting things tomorrow has to offer. We might take him for a little ride in the car.

What a brilliant job your doing with little Wilson. Really glad he's integrating with Suki and Alfie. It sounds as if you're doing a bit better with the toilet training than we are, but it's a nice day today, so we can spend lots of time outside. Have a good day x

Another good night. Up at 4.15 for a wee, then back into his crate, tiny cuddles and gentle chewing with 'go to sleep' 'bedtime. 10 mins. I needed a piddle too so fine by me.
Popped his collar on. Scratching but getting used to it. Also put a lead on whilst we were gently playing on the sofa so that he didn't realise but I was fooled! Thought we would take a few steps. He sat down swiftly and his little back legs dug in. Had to stop from laughing. Changed tactics and got the tennis ball so that as he was playing and chasing it, so was I. I dont need any exercise today. It did the trick. Stopped after about five minutes whilst the going was good for both of us. Will do the same again later.
Lovely to see Sheila and Roy yesterday. Thank you for visiting. Will leave update to them if they would like to.
Second vacs tomorrow.
We popped him into a backpack yesterday and carried him on P's chest (as one would a baby) for a five minute walk to the village. He loved it. Popped in to see some people in an office who all fussed over him. Good as gold. Let him sniff at high level plants. Holly bush a little prickly! Out about 30 mins in total.
Happy being brushed, have to be quick with checking his ears and mouth but we try to do that each day and of course his feet. Have not yet introduced him to the toothbrush ... had plenty of fun with the handbrush and broom though.
Our downstairs is tiled so don't know what his reaction is to the hoover however knowing the inquisitive, cheeky little monkey, I am sure he will relish something else to investigate.
Loves his balls, chews, tugs and will bring them for a play. Needs some work on leave or drop as he now thinks it is amusing to run off but he is very bright and eager to please. Regularly find him in the toy box rooting out things I had forgotten about.
Still have piddle mats on the floor and am sure these will be a necessity for some time however have reduced the number as he is getting there. Just when he is having fun and forgets or we don't pick up on the signs fast enough. Home Bargains toddler training pads I find to be the best as larger and cheaper.
He has not tried to dig in the garden since a firm 'No'. We have lost two new lavender shrubs but entirely our fault as we didnt cover them. The other two jump over them whilst playing but W has not learnt.
Someone is going to enjoy a fabulous boy. As Rowan so rightly said ... we have enjoyed such an important bonding stage and witnessed his firsts so hope that he can soon get to his forever home for the same. He has so much love to give and all this puppy training will soon pass (still ensuring routines and rules are maintained) with years ahead to enjoy a confident, intelligent, happy, loving, fun companion for both humans and other dogs alike.
Hard work, yes, but so so worth it.

This is so frustrating - have been trying to put an update on here but for some reason couldn't get any words to show on the message box. Have tried several times during the day and now finally it's working for me - damn gremlins!
Had a great visit with Nancy and Wilson yesterday. Can't believe how much he has grown in such a short time - he looked twice as big as when he left us only 10 days ago!
Still the same sweet, loving and confident little soul. He obviously adores his foster family, and Alfie and Suki are just gorgeous, I fell for both of them. Wilson is learning so much and is just so relaxed and happy, he will give so much love and joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him.

I bet it's the granny syndrome Sheila. Much better to spoil them and walk away than have them 24/7 !!! Does anyone know what's happened to Tim (Talbotwoods). He should be doing the homecheck but he's not come back on the forum. TIM

That's brilliant, well done Nancy, Esther not brilliant with toilet training, probably my fault as always preoccupied. Was so jubilant this morning as NO POOS, when I came down stairs. However, came down to earth when discovered she'd shredded a brand new duvet in a spare room while was showering, all upstairs rooms shut now. Wishing you a peaceful night x

Oh dear Lesley, sorry to hear about the duvet. A good excuse to deter house guests!
Well done Esther on not doing her poo inside during the night. Long may that continue. A friend popped in yesterday. I prefer the dogs not to all rush to the door but they do (my two adore her) and of course Wilson joins them. Picked up W whilst letting her In only to see that he was just finishing a piddle on the doormat ... well ... foster mum ... it is a mat and he had just been woken up by the door knocking. Another whilst I was in the garage sweeping (my fault again) apart from that very good but then again we do pop him outside and/or visit the garden frequently.
Another excellent bedtime. Not a peep. Up at 4 for a quick piddle, then few minutes cuddle and 'go to sleep', 'bedtime', covers over and all was quiet. I have put a different, heavier duvet over his crate as it is chillier.
Second vacs today.

Thank you for comiserations over duvet. They are so hard to toilet train aren't they as they're so quick and small? One second she is in one place, the next another!! I took Esther to my daughter's yesterday, her first outing, she was very confident and very well behaved,I was pleased as I was expecting it to be a bit chaotic. Good luck with Wilson's jabs, hope he's a brave boy. Give him a from me? Xx
