Marmite had a lovely Christmas Day and continues to be a good boy! He has got a fantastic character with switches between the deepest of sleeps to complete mischief! He has been clean in doors whilst I'm home but he's still convinced that my Christmas tree is a real tree so I've had to keep an eye on him!! Yesterday I left him for the first time for 3 hours and in my return I found him sleeping soundly. He's still a bit scared of going in and out of the garden but we are working on this with bribery. And he lives nothing more than scooting upstairs with muddy paws to jump on the kids beds!! (Little buggers keep leaving stair gate open) Here's a kissy Xmas pic..

Gorgeous boy. If you have a real tree - a tree is a tree to a dog!

I've been reading through this thread and my heart goes out to this lovely boy and to you for looking after and understanding him. He must be so very content.

O.M.G. I met him on Christmas eve. Gorgeous, just gorgeous and so happy. He is coming out of his shell and happily went into the garden for a wee and back for some livercake. I just wish I could have him, but he deserves to be spoilt for the rest of his life and here he would be one of many. I wish. xxx

Marmite doesn't do toys or playing! Or so I thought!!! Out of the blue this evening marmite picked up a toy and flew round the house swinging his Christmas present around! Then he came over to me for a game of tug. It was like his 2 year old self popped up to say hello!!

Isn't it amazing what happens when a dog is happy?

He looks such a happy boy now, he really is coming out of his shell, as Han said.

We are very much looking forward to the lovely lad spending a few hours with us in the home-kennel this afternoon, where some of Mummy Chook's liver cake awaits him.

Penny delivered Marmite around noon as arranged, & the boy is absolutely as gorgeous as expected.
He spent ages exploring & sampling the home-kennel's most comfortable resting places, & he was fascinated by the view of the outside world offered by the bay window in the lounge. He paid many visits to the water bowl in the kitchen, but didn't drink an awful lot - I initially kept a close eye on him, as Penny warned me that as befits an elderly gentleman he might tend to mark, but this didn't occur, (it wouldn't have bothered me anyway, as I've kept Milton spray handy ever since the time Boris spent here ). He investigated the kitchen worktops, but didn't exhibit any thieving tendencies, merely interest.
Marmite sampled his Auntie Jenny's liver cake, for which he awarded top marks, & also had a few chicken nuggets, which had his approval too.
I took the three hounds out for a walk in the park around 2.00 p.m., & Marmite was as good as gold on the lead. He enjoyed the unfamiliar scents, & performed multiple wees & one firm poo. On our return to the home-kennel I offered him the dinner that Penny had brought, but he wasn't interested, (unfortunately I'd neglected to ask Penny about his regular feeding time }.
Annie, as usual, accepted a newcomer into her domain without demur, whereas Sandy was a tad green-eyed, & demanded lots of fuss just to make up for all the attention that Marmite was receiving.
All is tranquil here at the moment, & I'm glad that the boy will be going back with Penny before the fireworks commence tonight - since he's due to return here in a couple of weeks or so I wouldn't want him to associate the place with horrid frightening noises, (o.k. I know that he's quite deaf, but these days the pyrotechnics are extremely loud. ).
I have mixed emotions - much as I'd thoroughly enjoy having Marmite as a foster, I'd much rather he finds the loving forever home he so richly deserves.
