Hi all! Hannah here. Finally got round to making an account. Thanks for all your kind messages! So lovely of you all.
Marmite has slotted in very well into our home. He has the loveliest temperament and is an angel compared to our lurcher Tess (she's a rescue and is quite temperamental in comparison) He doesn't make a fuss and is very calm. He would be a lovely companion for anyone who likes a calm, old dog who sleeps a lot and doesn't ask for much except a good walk!
Poor boy is completely deaf and potentially could be going a bit blind (his eyes are grey). He doesn't really know how to act like a greyhound - he clearly never got walked as his haunch legs are thin and small and he even struggles getting up the stairs
He acts younger than 11 and has so much life left in him because he's spent so much of it indoors! which as you all will probably agree is the saddest life for a lurcher/greyound..
He is obsessed with all the smells on the walk around the lake as if he has never been outside before. He is so friendly with all other dogs and wags his tail when people walk past him (even when he is driving along in a car and someone walks past!!).
I posted a few pics above. I hope you can all see them!
Bless him, he sounds such a sweet boy. I have 2 elderly greyhounds and they still love zoomies, how anyone could keep a greyhound indoors is beyond me. I am so happy he gets to have some nice walkies and lots of love now in his dotage Thank you Hannah
Just to remind peeps that Hannah can only have Maarmite until around the 23rd December. We may be looking to move him this coming weekend. Penny is on standby if no-one comes forward.
If no-one is able to offer Marmite a forever home I'm sure my two "ladies of a certain age" wouldn't be averse to fostering him............
Má tá grá agat dom, tabhair grá do mo mhadra. ~ Love me, love my dog.
Hi! Marmite has now residing with myself for at least the next couple of weeks. He was a little anxious in the car and I think given the chance he would of sat on my lap! When we got home he was pleased to meet Colin (jack Russell x) but then stood at the front door and barked to go back out. So we went off for a brisk walk round the block and met up with 2 terriers, a frenchie, a collie and 2 greyhounds! All met with his windmill tail. We also met 2 cats and I will safely say Marmite is NOT cat friendly!!! He has paced round the house and scent marked a couple of times but I am hoping this will stop. He has had some dinner and has now settled on the sofa. A few photos to follow.
