Dave has come into SLR today through a private home. Poor lad was being left as his owner had to go into Hospital. There is no foreseeable change in her hospitalization so Dave has been signed over to us. He is a lovely boy of approximately 4 years old. Cat friendly and dog and people friendly. I'll leave his foster mum to fill you all in on this lovely chap.

Just to say thet 'Dave' has landed! ;D Thank you so much Cath for bringing him to meet me this afternoon . He traveled very well in the car and enjoyed the trip round PAH in Crawley. He is very respectful even though he is a big lad. The cat was sitting on a stool so when Dave went for a sniff round the room he ended up nose to nose with Arnold who gave him a quick side swipe without claws to test the water, Dave just backed off and Arnold had decided he is OK as just sat underneath him! He has a very waggy tail when meeting my lot, Jazz welcomed him, Mia is a little wary but following him around and Poppy did her small dog growl just to show she is not to be eaten! They have all eaten together now with no problems although he was very hungry He let me put my hand in the bowl, he's done lots of wee's in the garden and is resting his head on the desk while I type this. He knows sit too but needs some work on the lead pulling. He is a beautiful boy dark around the face back and tail with a beautiful grey brindle coat. (Re-Posted from transport thread)

Dave is a teaddy bear! He has a wonderful soft coat and will come to you for a cuddle if you open your arms! ;DHe drank quite a bit of water last night so had to get up in the night for a wee but no accidents inside. He even gaxe me TWO roaches in the night as he slept next to my bed on a quilt when I gave him a stroke . (I really wanted to get some sleep). He only has one fault so far, the smelliest farts when he relaxes!!! I hope it's whatever he has eaten recently and will improve over the coming days. We are off for a walk as soon as I get dressed so that should be fun for him, we will see how he is meeting other dogs on the lead. It's as if he has been here for ages, he is so chilled and all the girls have accepted him already! Even the cat has forgotten he is a new foster.

I am so pleased to hear how well Dave is doing ;D ;D ;D ;D He was a delight in the car - mine could certainly take some lessons from him, although a bit of a petrol head like me. The faster I went the more content he was He is a gorgeous boy Cath

Dave has been a wonderful guest over Christmas generally very quiet, clean and cuddly. His only problem is that he pulls on the lead. I dont think he has been taught how to walk on one. He jumps up and barks before you get to the door he is so excited. The ice has been a real problem but once that has gone he needs a bit of one to one intensive training. Treats work really well so I don't think it will be too hard for him to learn how to behave and walk next to you nicely . He really is just a big teddy bear who wants some love. His eyes are so loving. I will post some pictures of him when I can get them to load.

What a gorgeous boy. I'm sure the pulling will get better. Oscar was very strong on the lead when he first arrived here, but is really good now .... unless there is a very interesting smell he needs to get to in a mad rush!

Still cant load pictures but took Dave out on his own this morning before walking the girls as the ice is slowly melting. I had him on a very short road lead with a bag of treats and went to the local rugby pitch through a nature reserve. The difference just having him myself as he has been in the car and then held by a male friend before made me realise how much difference being calm can make. He sat at every road we crossed, stopped pulling so much afer about 10 minutes and by the time we returned home he was a real pleasure. I was so happy I had watery eyes . What a good boy. When we got to the field he sat while i put his long training lead on and after we found a stick he was such a happy dog his tailwas high and wagging so much ;D. We didn't meet any other dogs but heard them barking behind fences so he barked back and did get very excited hoping for a play. He dosent like to be left in his crate but settles after a short while when you go out. He loves other dogs but he would be happy to be an only dog too loving being with his owner as long as he gets a good play with some doggy mates on walks. And very cat friendly too! Onwards and upwards Davey boy.

Dave is gradually relaxing a bit more. He will sometimes let me go out of the room without following. His latest trick is to open doors, he just uses his paws and pulls the handle down, clever boy! My lot are too daft to work that out! He really loves going out for walks talking quite loudly to you as soon as he sees the lead but as usual he will quieten down when told to. Mia had a lovely fast lurcher run today with her friend Cassie and poor Dave so wanted to join in. He has had no accidents in the house, not even marked anywhere! He loves to play ball or with any toy but it dosen't last too long so you dont feel as if you have to keep on and on unlike some dogs. ( I know-I have one!) this boy With my girls laying around Relaxing after a busy day! Look into those sleepy eyes
