Oscar is still waiting patiently!
I took them out for a walk today on my own which I don't do very often now Tony's not working, but he'd been out for the day.
I was SO impressed with Oscar's recall! He saw some cyclists in the distance and it was instinct for him to chase. He had his head up, ears pricked, and just started to run after them, when I called him back. And he came back instantly!
He's such a brilliant little dog. And with recall like that too! He's such a loyal little chap, and very willing to please. He will make someone a fantastic companion.
(I promise I'm not weakening, and starting to fail ...... but it was pretty easy walking four of them at once!!)

Sorry Sue! To be fair I don't have to walk them very far - we get in the car, drive to a layby next to Gosbecks, and then go a few yards from the car to the fields! But today we did have to cross the road and they were very good. And of course getting 4 dogs in and out of a car can be a bit of a handful. It's just that part of my argument against having 4 dogs would be that I would have issues walking them.

We homechecked a potential home for Oscar today, but felt that it was not quite right for Oscar. A lovely home for the right dog though. So, we are still looking for that forever home.

Shame. But good luck to both Oscar and the homechecked people in finding their perfect matches.

This little chap continues to delight all who come in to contact with him. His recall is spot on. He knows the command "wait" and will pretty much stay with you if you keep calling him back on a familiar walk. He's very keen to please. However in a new, exciting environment this may not happen immediately. But he will always stay close and has never disappeared even when off lead in the early days. He's such a gorgeous bouncy, happy, lively little lad and likes nothing more than a good game of bitey face and lurcher wrestling with Max, but is equally happy to curl up in his bed. I am finding it difficult to keep updating his thread without sounding like a broken record, but he is absolutely perfect. We can leave him for up to 4 hours with the other hounds and he is perfectly happy and settled. Obviously if he was in a new environment this would need to be built up gradually. He is the last to get out of bed in the mornings, and is quiet as a mouse all through the night. He is a little treasure and I will miss him sooooooooo much.

Well done Oscar I am sure the experience was good for you. Though they might not be applying for you if you peed in their garden pots and counter surfed. Last time I took Belle on a home check that was for Greyhound Gap it was a lovely lady and her teenage son and she had a little young type lurcher just over a year old so very playful. Belle had enough of him and made her self comfy in his bed and then growled at him when he wanted to get in the bed with her. :oo But we were forgiven the lady and her son wanted to adopt Belle should have taken their offer. ;D ;D Or a dog just like her.

I think it is a good thing that he was a bit of a typical lurcher at the homecheck, cause if the potential adopters just laughed it off or reacted positively (i.e. not too bothered) then you know they are A-okay!! Sounds like he may have a bit of interest
