Oscar was rehomed to one of our SLR members with their own male dog. But sadly the two dogs didn't hit it off and the family felt that there was no bond between them. Oscar loves to cuddle, loves to be part of the pack and so it was felt better to bring Oscar back to his foster home again. He's fitted in just the same as he was before. And having another snuggle whilst he is waiting He's waiting ......... and waiting ................

Oh yes - we are all having lovely Oscar snuggles and cuddles again. In fact he is next to me now and making it very hard to type as he keeps wanting to put his head on my hands! He's a tiny bit clingy - but can be quite an insecure boy at times underneath his happy go lucky exterior. We had a fabulously easy night with him - straight in to his bed and straight to sleep, only waking with the others at 7am. He's shedding his coat like crazy - I shouldn't be wearing black today! I think it must have just been a clash of personalities between him and Lewis, because he's been absolutely fine with our three - exactly as things were before. When I have more time later I'll update this thread properly with more detailed info about Oscar for those who haven't come across this gorgeous boy before.

So glad he has settled back in – he just wasn’t happy with us/Lewis.
Oscar and Lewis seemed to be fine together when in the park with other dogs.
They just did not seem to 'gel' when in a 121 situation and the realtionship was getting colder rather than warmer over time. He is a fantastic dog and we both felt very sad having to return him.
He is a great character and very loving.

Oscar is about 23” to the shoulder. He is very gentle and quite a laid back dog for a young lad (approx. 18 months old). He’s been neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated under the care of SLR. He loves people and is probably more focused on human attention than the other dogs when in the house. He loves to stand on his back legs and cuddle in to you very gently. However out on walks he loves to greet every dog he comes across. He is fine with all sizes of dog – from Wolfhound to tiny terriers. His recall can be selective when there is another dog in sight that needs an Oscar “meet and greet” session. He knows the commands to sit, lie down, and to go in his bed. He has no food aggression and eats alongside our three in the kitchen. He likes to play bitey face and racey chasey, but is happy to stop quite quickly and doesn’t pester our dogs to play. He takes his cue from them really. He loves toys – particularly squeaky ones – and chewy bones. He is happy to occupy himself with these. He’s a real couch potato – when not out on a walk or eating he is snoozing happily all day long. He’s not bothered by loud fireworks – nothing really seems to scare him. He’s happy to go outside for walks in the pouring rain – so not bothered by bad weather. (Which was just as well today!) He can be a little bit OTT with wanting attention - he tries to push in front of our three if they are having a fuss with a bit of a "me, me, me!!" attitude. But we are working on ignoring him and fussing him when he settles down quietly elsewhere. He's very bright and catches on quickly, so will be very easy to train. We don’t think he is cat friendly by his reaction on seeing the neighbour’s cat. He’s happy to fit in around our three hounds – one bitch and two males. At the moment our three are all lying on the sofas, but there is no room for Oscar so he is happy to curl up in one of the beds on the floor. We have left him alone for short periods of time (up to 2 hours) with our dogs and he has been fine. However – if he was rehomed as an only dog he would not be happy to be left on his own. There would need to be some work done around building up the amount of time he is left from a few minutes, and making sure he has something (filled Kong) to keep him occupied. He can be quite fretful if separated from those he feels secure with, and can get a bit whiney and vocal. He’s not too clingy around the house – he stays relaxed and sleeping if one of us leaves the room – but he takes his cue from our dogs who just open one eye to see where we are going. I hope this gives you some idea of Oscar’s character and personality. He is such a fabulous boy – pretty perfect really.

Just a quick Oscar update. I have some more photos but my camera is playing up at the moment so can't upload them. He's settled back in with our dogs really well. Things are just as they were before. There have been no disagreements between the hounds. Sometimes out on walks there is some rough lurcher play, but Oscar stands his own with the others and they all seem to sort themselves out without any problems. I'll try to get some photos up later this evening.

Definitely the perfect dog. Oscar found a tennis ball on his walk today and he, Max and Buddy had great fun playing with it. After a while they got bored with the game, so Tony threw the ball and Oscar had fun retrieving it during the rest of the walk. So he likes a ball game!

Just to update Oscar's thread. He continues to do well. He loves his walks, travels well in the back of the car, and his recall is really good if there is nothing to distract him. He still loves to greet people and dogs, and is sometimes prone to jumping up to say hello if he really likes someone (he has his favourite people on walks who make a fuss of him - and remembers them every time he sees them!). He sleeps soundly at night from 11pm until about 7.30am, and isn't very often the first to stir in the mornings .... he likes his sleep! He plays well with our hounds, but stands up for himself and if Max is feeling particularly boisterous then he doesn't take any nonsense. He loves to chase, and to be chased by the others. All in all an easy straightforward easy going hound! Someone snap him up please as I'm sure he thinks this is home now!

Oscar is feeling a bit sorry for himself today, as he has a sore area near one of his claws which he has been nibbling and making even sorer! We have applied some Dermagel and dressed it to stop him licking it, and he was brilliant and let us see to it without a fuss. However he is now most upset about having a bandage on - apparently he now can't use that leg at all!!! Here is the wounded soldier ..... Look! I'm poorly don't you know?? Love him!

Bless him - what a stunning lad he is - really beautiful. But a bit of a wuss by the sounds of it!! Still, let him milk his injury for a day or 2....hard to resist that sad face!
Amazing that he hasnt found his sofa yet - he's just perfect and would be such an easy boy to live with xx
