I'm still waiting to hear the results from Graham. The sooner we sort him out so that he has a quality of life, the better.

X-Rays through from Graham, our Vet in Poole. And Graham's update on it. Here are a couple of photos of the x-rays from Smokey Joe. It looks like he has smashed his left stifle at some point - it is a bit of a mess, more because it wasn't treated than because of the original injury. His patella ligament has snapped or been stretched and a fragment of bone is where it shouldn't be and so now it sits too far up the knee and he has a huge amount of soft tissue swelling at the front of his knee.(Compare the 2 knees on the 3rd x-ray) Probably fibrosis/scar tissue? I plan to send these x-rays to Fitzpatricks to see what they recommend as I am not sure what the best way forward is. Despite his minimal use of this leg, he does not seem to be in pain with it; however I will have a better idea once I see how he responds to the metacam he has for his castration. Once again another lovely dog - lets hope we can do something for him. I also gave his teeth a quick hand scale while he was waking up, so that should save trouble further down the line. ................................... It does look like a nightmare job with bone where it shouldn't be

I know what you mean Donna. I hope that you get some good advice from Fitzpatricks - if anyone can help its them. ;D Certainly looks a mess in there at the moment. Hope there's a happy outcome for this friendly boy.
