We had a bit of a blast in Ringwood Forest today with Frances & Kevin, aka Loonylurchers, today. Always good to meet up with other SLR supporters, but with five lurchers running around loose there weren't many opportunities to get good photos of all of them. [Sally, we needed you!] Here's Ianto and Slim, jousting for a bit of hooning around: And here's Ianto and Zena, giving Slim a good lurcher inspection: Slim has had his nails clipped and will be on his best behaviour tomorrow, when his visitors arrive around lunchtime.

Lesley and her two greyhounds, Edward and Sarah, came to visit Slim, now called Colin, this morning. We took the dogs round the block in the pouring rain while introductions were made, then we dashed back home to get dried off and have a cup of tea. Colin soon charmed Lesley with his leans and croons, and then it was off to a local field for a free run round. Unfortunately the driving rain put Colin off a bit as he doesn't like getting his back wet, but all three hounds were very polite, and Colin happily jumped into Lesley's car to travel back with his new friends, Edward and Sarah. Formalities over, we presented Lesley with Colin's documents and got her to pose with him for this picture: And here's another with Edward (black and white) and Sarah (black) posing with their new little bro, Colin. If you think Colin is winking at Sarah, you may be right: With a two and half hour car journey ahead of them, Lesley was keen to get her newly-enlarged dog family home. We wish them all the happiness in the world. Colin has come a long way, and we're proud of him. Fish and chip supper and a glass of something alcoholic for us tonight. Cheers lad.

Thanks Vicki. Colin was our first foster dog and he was pretty easy to turn into a funny, loving house dog. I don't feel we've really been tested and I can hardly say we're experienced. It's been a very, very rewarding thing to do and we do feel a sense of achievement. For anyone wavering about whether to foster a dog I would sincerely recommend you give it a try. SLR's support is excellent - you won't be on your own.
We are now looking forward to a bit of a break and a chance to get to know Tia better. Some of you will know she arrived here to live just six days after Colin arrived, so she had to take a bit of a back seat as we worried and fussed about teaching him the things she already knew, thanks to Kate's great fostering.
We are also mindful of the dreadful plight of possibly hundreds of greyhounds in our area now that Portsmouth Racing Track is to close, so we may take a foster greyhound from that awful place if we get the chance in a few weeks' time. For now, I hope to have a bit of a rest from some of the worry and responsibility, and then we'll see where we go from here.
Thank you all for your fabulous support; we couldn't have done it without you all. X
