Thank you guys . Needless to say all the hard work has paid off and our beautiful Skippety Doo Da has gone to his new home with Mum Gill, Dad Iain and big lurcher brother, George. Mark will be along later to post some pictures, but right now we're both dipping into a very big box of mansize

I’ve just been looking back at Skippys thread and it seems incredible that he first came in to us on the 22nd October 2009 as a very sad lad with a broken leg, under weight and lets face it, had a really cr*p start to his very young life. In the time that he was with us we have watched him heal, fatten up, catch up with his puppy hood, destroy a few beds, tea towels, shoes, slippers, books, door knobs, various toys, made a general nuisance of himself to the point of despair on some days, made us think and rethink various strategies to try and overwrite whatever had been done to him in the past to help him move forward and become the dog that we always knew was in there. Donna is really good with being able to work out what a dog needs to move forward, to give him/her the tools to get the job done, but admits that Skippy, on some days was a bit of a ‘trial’ (We joked on occasions that perhaps we should sell him back to the pikey’s ;D) but when we finally found the right buttons to push, he was a totally different dog, balanced and loveable. Today we had a lovely visit from the Morrisions, who had already met Skippy last weekend, and their doglet George and after a successful afternoon we are happy to announce that Skippy has left the building and is on his way to his forever sofa with Iain, Gill and new brother George. Although it was a painful/happy departure I can’t help but feel that when it comes down to it, Skippy has moved on having given us much more than we have given him. He united everybody on this forum to raise money for his care, and taught us that patience is everything. Thank you Skippy, be well, be happy and BE GOOD! ;D I did take some piccys, but it is a really dingy day today and they didn't come out well but heres some of Skippy departing with his new family. Thank you Iain and Gill for the pleasant afternoon and for giving Skippy his forever sofa. Please keep us updated

Skip and George happily travelled back to our house (lying down together in the boot of the car without any problems) and Skip has now met all three of our cats (Spooky, Bubble and Tarot). George has welcomed Skip into his new home and is helping him to adjust to his new surroundings. Donna and Mark have done a wonderful job with Skip and we are very privileged to have been allowed to take on responsibility for him. We have taken some pictures of Skip in his new home and will be emailing them to Donna so that she can post them for us. We are very conscious of all the interest shown in Skip and all the loving wishes for his future. We will keep you in touch with his progress. Gill/Iain/George.

Great pictures - he is looking at home already. What a great thing it is to see how this boy who was cast aside has become someone's pride and joy.

Is it quiet at your place Donna ? Err, yes it is! Laurie nailed it when she said that Skippy has a very large presence and it felt like there was a very large hole here last night and this morning. M

George and Skip ate well together - George quickly learning that he had to speed up as Skip was a much faster eater. We all fell asleep watching a film on TV in the evening - reaction to the inevitable tension of the day. The night got off to a long start as Skip was clearly missing his previous home - but eventually both boys slept in their beds together in the hall and gave us 4 hours uninterupted. An early walk to start today to sap up some of Skip's energy and George is beginning to exert his presence over Skip as both continue to adjust to their new and changed lives (as does the rest of the family - including the cats).

Brilliant news for Skip, hope he continues to settle in well with his lovely new family, he already looks so content and smiling in the photos! it is remarkable he has healed not only physically but mentally too and now has the reassurance and confidence to cope with life and trust again, his foster family must be so proud of how far he has come but must miss him so much! hope you are able to stay in touch with him still very best of luck to Skip! x
