we are thrilled to see Skip doing so well and thriving, it is very moving to see him fully recovered and loving life again we are particularly pleased for Skip ,as our old lurcher Toby was dumped at the vets aged 5months with a broken front right leg too his original owners wanted him pts aged just 5 months!! the vet point blankly refused and took him into her care, it was too late to pin his leg, she plastered it but he was a restless patient and kept ripping the plaster off bless him! thankfully his leg fully healed and when he first came to us aged 10 months it was a little twisted and turned slightly outwards but in time through lots of regular excercise and building up his muscle tone it really straightened out and thankfully never ever had any further issues or problems with his leg throughout his life we were so so proud of him we hope Skipp will be much the same, enjoy life to the full and the amazing job his foster family have done is wonderful , he is a credit to you and all of your time and patience has be well worth it we wish Skip all the very best for the future, what a lovely boy he is hope he soon has the home he really deserves and he can be spoilt

Thank you so much for your lovely comments It's so reassuring to hear how well Toby healed and what a great quality of life he had. Sadly I think people assume that, because Skip has had a broken leg, he will need specialist care and treatment for the rest of his life And, of course, that's NOT the case. Skip is now just like any other juvenile lurcher: up for trouble, mischief and a good time whereever he can get it ;D In fact what he really needs now is his own family with a fun (but assertive ) lurcher(ette) around so that he can catch up on all the puppyhood he missed out on while his leg was mending. And just for everyone's delight, delectation and amusement, this his how Skip spent his evening last night. Apparently, he rather fancies his chances at Flyball.......

what a lovely photo and update on Skip ;D he really does look full of character and like he has a good sense of humour! ;D yes, Toby never thankfully ever had any further problems with his leg and we really hope Skip is the same, we hope his new family will realise this and just let him be Skip, and have fun and frolics with his new family, Toby was just the same when he first came here, it didn't stop him being a real cheeky, lively puppy who climbed and jumped around all over the place, ;D there was never a dull moment! you would never have known he had ever broken his leg we really hope Skip gets the very best in life now, he has come on so much , we were in tears when we first saw the picture of him running off lead for the first time but so happy for him! just wonderful!

We've just got back from a lovely walk on Newlands Corner where Skip had a fantastic time and we found out that he's famous ;D A lovely family came up and asked us if we were Southern Lurcher Rescue and was this Skip with the broken leg They're not members but they have been popping in to his thread to see how he's doing A big thank you to them for letting Skip have such a wonderful time playing with George, their Saluki Lurcher Skip thoroughly enjoyed himself. Oh and they went away with an SLR card

That is a lovely sight to see Donna. Good news about those people too - wouldn't it be nice if they got an SLR dog, great work guys.

Having met Skip this afternoon our lurcher George (a 5 year old saluki greyhound) asked us to fill in an adoption form so that we could adopt Skip. This we have done and hope that we will be allowed to provide a happy ending to Skip's story by providing him with a loving home and a companion.
