Please meet Tobermory, (house name Mory), an eleven month old Greyhound X Whippet lad who has come under SLR’s wing as a result of having a tendency to run off, accompanied by no discernible recall, which drove his family to distraction, as they loved him to bits but were fearful for his safety. They tried every suggestion in the book, but to no avail, & finally could see no option other than to very reluctantly surrender him into our care.

Unlike many of the hounds that we take on board, Mory is in really splendid condition – ‘tis patently obvious that he has been well cared for & very much loved. He has been neutered, vaxed, wormed, flea treated, & is microchipped. He is also housetrained.
Mory is dog/adult/child friendly, but his cat status is unknown, although he has shown no inclination to chase them in his previous existence, & ignored the local felines when we encountered them on our evening perambulation.
Mory happily climbed into the houndmobile when I collected him, & travelled well, administering a small lick to my left ear on the journey.
He was a tad overwhelmed by my crew on entering the Harlow home-kennel, & his, (very long!), tail was initially between his legs, but soon emerged once he realised that they bore no evil intent – I guess that Winnie’s customary mothering instinct helped in this respect -

.....................& Annie appears to have found a new playmate:

Just look at the length of that tail!

Mory has proved to be inquisitive, & has thoroughly explored the house, (up & down the stairs like a yo-yo!), & garden, (in & out like a fiddler’s elbow!). He has not, as yet, shown any inclination to take over the furniture, or to steal, although he was a mite interested when I opened the fridge door to get some milk for a cuppa.............
First impressions are that Mory is a really lovely boy, who would benefit from being homed with canine company – he spent the first five months of his life with his littermates, but then went to a home as an only dog, which may well have contributed to his issues with absence of recall, hence he will not be rehomed as an only dog.
