Honey has hardly moved off the sofa since Thursday. She doesn't make a noise, just wants to sleep and rest. When I am preparing food she gets off the sofa and joins the others in the queue, but unless there is a sign of food she goes back to the office and quietly lies down. We have been able to leave her several times for an hour or two and she is still in the same position when we return, with little Esme choosing to stay close by her. Although she doesn't interact with the dogs she now lets each of them come up and say hello and sniffs them back with a wag of the tail. And breakthrough last night... She is in pain with her leg, which will hopefully get resolved today... and I was up a few times to comfort her when she moved and it hurt. She kissed me and wagged. She is truly a gentle little lady. She has lived in a home, definitely. She hasn't had an accident in the house and holds her bladder and bowels until she is taken out. She knows routines. My one worry at the moment is that she hasn't gone to the water bowl once since Thursday. I have been adding water to her dinners, and also syringing water into her mouth, but she won't drink water. Even trying to change the bowl, use a dinner bowl, she doesn't want to know. We are off to Anil at 10.30 a.m. X-rays, and decision whether to cast or pin. She really is a little Honey. x

Thank goodness she's OK. If mine won't drink I make a cup of very weak Redbush tea (no caffeine!), and dilute further with milk, and give when cool. It works every time, but it really is only once in a blue moon. Oh, and don't give before bedtime! Let us know how she is later Jenny Take care

It's not good news. Anil couldn't do the leg today. He has taken new x-rays and the double break is quite jagged. She has 3 puncture wounds on the top of the leg and no wounds underneath so he is bewildered as to what made the break. Anil is going to consult with another surgeon tomorrow to see if they can do it. I will also contact Fitzpatricks once Anil has emailed me the x-rays and see what they think. There are three options - If possible pin If too bad - and the breaks are jagged - pin and fixate for 3 months If it can't be pinned or fixated with a good outcome, amputate. I feel gutted that she is still in pain and we haven't got this resolved. We can't give you any more info at the moment. Fixation with pinning is going be be around £2,000.

God bless SLR for taking this girlie on other wise she would have had no chance. Broken legs costly business the big greyhound boy I fostered for GRWE had a broken hock and that cost £2.500 as it was also 'complected' where would theses poor hounds be with out all you good rescues.

She had a rough night. It's so pitiful hearing her cry with pain and all I could do was sleep next to her and rub her belly. At one point she tucked her head under my chin and licked me. She is a dear little soul. She finally had some sleep around 5 a.m. til 7 a.m. Today is going to spent sorting out the next stage and quick.
