I collected Saffie from the vet yesterday evening following her neutering and everything went very well. She was still dopey when we got home but managed to eat a little and then slept until 6am. She was much brighter this morning although her stitches are still causing her some discomfort. She ate breakfast as usual and did a poo and wee outside. So all going well and no problems so far. For my sanity and Saffie's wellbeing I have brought a crate in the house to keep her safe and out of trouble during the time when I can't watch her. If she had her way she would be tearing round the house with Pinky. She is being very good with the crate and the other dogs take it in turns to sit with her. Back to the vet tomorrow for a quick check up and then back in 10 days for stitches out.

Saffie has done extremely well - it has been a little difficult as she has so much energy and pinging about everywhere. I let her off the lead today for the first time, and she was so happy to run round and chase Pinky but they do play quite rough, so could not let it go on for too long. She is back to vet tomorrow and should get the final sign off. She is very similar to Pinky in nature, ie full of energy, loving, naughty and playful and so wants to please. Her perfect day would be a little mooch about in the morning, followed by a nice walk and then snoozing in the afternoon. Tea time, a little more exercise and then snuggling on your lap to watch the tv. She is beautiful and nearly up to weight. I will post photos this weekend.

Saffie was signed off by the vet yesterday and the wound has completely healed. She enjoyed meeting up with Ronnie and little Sam yesterday and get on very well with all other dogs. All the dogs had a good run round this morning in the frost and it gave Saffie her first proper play with the others since the operation. As mentioned previously there is nothing bad to say about her, she is brilliant with people, children, other dogs and is so loving and cuddly. Her hearing has improved, in fact she has better hearing than all the other dogs, strange as that may sound. She hears things ie cars on the drive, loud bangs outside the house that the others just do not pick up. It is almost as if she has unintentional selective hearing. She comes to her name and is learning some manners. I can feed her with the others now and she knows the pecking order most of the time. A few photos: She loves playing with toys with fost bruv Billy She is a very good girl and loves snuggling up in her bed at night She must have grown at least an inch in the last month Boxing with Pinky

Quick update on Saffie. She continues to thrive and has learnt so much in the last month. She is a very loving little lurcher with humans and other dogs. She never shows anything negative and is always happy. Her house training (which was non existant for the first few days) is 90% there, with just a very occasional accident every few days, usually in the morning if I can't get down the stairs quick enough. When she has exercised she loves nothing more than snuggling up, with one of the other lurchers or if I am about snuggling on my lap. We love her to bits, she has a lovely refreshing, loving, friendly, playful nature.

Lovely update Elaine, glad she is doing so well and her hearing has improved. Maybe she just wanted to "shut the horrible world out for a while" and now she doesn't!

Catching up with this thread has made the screen go all blurry.....thought I'd rectified that age old problem with a new laptop but clearly not You are doing such wonders for her and she looks a million dollars in the piccies ;D. Interesting about her hearing being ahem 'selective' (clever girl ). Lets hope if the possibilty of her being deaf was putting people off, they'll change their minds about her now. She sounds perfik to me.

I am very pleased to say that Saffie is DEFINATELY NOT DEAF. There is no more for me to say on the subject. We love having her live with us, but feel a little sad that no-one is interested in rehoming her as she is a perfect little lurcher. Hey, why am I moaning, it means I get to keep her longer and what an absolutle pleasure she is. Love her, and absolutely want the best home for her.
