Jax has come into us from a private home today. He was living with several children and a puppy Chihuahua. Jax has a lovely temperament. Only around 11 months old now, the family found that they couldn't dedicate the time that they needed to on Jax. Hence, he wasn't get out and about enough and having some off-lead fun. Jax is currently being fostered near Reading with a Lurcher bitch and a young child.

I am pleased to be able to introduce you to the gorgeous Jax He is a lovely pup, very energetic and lively... but absolutely lovely with it He was brilliant in the car back to ours, although he did end up sitting on Matt's lap as he kept trying to sit on Lizzie's head (she was not impressed ) Jax does pull a bit on the lead and so we have been using the halti which does improve this. We have meet other dogs today as well and he was well behaved although became a little too excited.... a short time out and he calmed down (unlike the golden retriever pup who ended up knocking Isaac over into a puddle ;D ;D ;D) In the house he has been good, a couple of "wee" accidents but it is his first night and not sure how to ask to go out.... we have been letting him out regularly and checking that he has done a wee before he comes back in - I doubt it will take him long to be completely clean in the house Jax so far hasn't settled much, as soon as one person is up then so is Jax and he is ready for play Once we are all sat down then he will settle for a short time; he's quickly learnt that he was to remain on his bed whilst we ate and has learnt (through a few growls) that when Lizzie is cuddled up on the sofa then she doesn't want to play Jax is happy to play with people, child or dog, loves his balls (and isaac's... he will learn to put his away ) but also loves to have lots of cuddles and ear scratches Overall he is a lively playful pup who just needs to settle into his foster home and wait for mummchook to work her magic and find his long-term sofa (p.s. sorry about picture quality - they are from my phone, still attempting to up-load from my camera!!)

Child friendly, definitely Small dog friendly- not so sure, we had a small incident in the field this morning with a small terrior that tried to join in play with Jax and Lizzie... Jax actually grabbed & picked up the small dog . This may just be over the top play... We will observe and try to improve this I wouldn't want to say if he is cat friendly as none here & very few around!! Jax was pretty well behaved on the SLR walk today - he pulled a lot despite the halti (giving me a good work out) but it was obvious he just wanted to join in the off lead fun and he wasn't quiet in letting is know either ;D Jax is more settled tonight and is cuddled up with us all on the sofa . He has learnt Lizzie doesn't always want to play and will play by himself or with isacc Jax had an ok night - once he finally settled he slept well until isaac woke in the early hours... Hopefully tonight he will settle quicker

He is a lovely boy , it sounds like he is begging to settle already with you. He reminds me of both the obvious but also one of my current fosters Dave even though he's a grey brindle they look to have the same sort of build . You are doing a great job, hope for an even better night tonight.

I thought I recognised that lovely Lizzie in the first photo. Obviously managed to persuade Matt, Sarah - well done!

A brindle collie x boy who's lively - now who does that sound like? It sounds like he's got the typical collie pup temperament too, which means he'll be a pearler given some clear boundaries, some obedience/agility training and some mental stimulation.

Well what a delight Jax is to have around . It is amazing the change we have seen in him over just a couple of days We have changed his food to a lower protein and have given him plenty of exercise (out on 2x 30 mins, on both scool runs & 90min long walk- has been off lead playing ball for a llittle time too but largely kept on lead as needs to learn to remain calm and not to pull) and he has been playing with Lizzie who has shown him the boundries ;D All of the above mixed with cuddles and love mean that Jax has stopped being a holigan, constantly demanding & hyperactive to a boy settled & a lot calmer (currently 2 dogs asleep ) As of yet we have not left him in the house without us but we will be crate training as of tomorrow eve (thanks cath for lending crate) . Jax does have seperation anxiety as displyed when Matt popped out to the shops - he wouldn't settle at all, kept pacing trying to open the door and looking out the window, no amount of FM cuddles would console him There is still work to do with this pup but he is learning quickly

The muzzle should arrive tomorow Sarah, with the advocate. Mat needs to try to ignore him a bit whilst he is around him. He sounds as if he is bonding with him. Let little Isaac do some of the feeding and treats as well.

Thank-you very much for the lend of the crate Cath, Jax has taken to it brilliantly and even lil Lizzie has popped in for a snooze The crate has been seet up in our room where Jax has been sleeping the past couple of nights and also where Lizzie tends to snooze when left home alone... Jax went in no problem last night and settled quicker than the previous nights then today Matt had to join Isaac at school for a couple of hours and so Jax was crated (by Isaac) as Matt left Jax was a little upset but it appears he soon settled, ate his chew and Matt came home to two doglets sleeping Lizzie was a little naughty and tried to lead Jax astray on this mornings walk Jax, who has really good recall, was happily returning on call... Lizzie just stood there until Jax got about 2 foot from me (& treat) then ran straight past him-past me... and of course play was more exciting than treat A quick "here" to both of them and then they were stood at my feet ;D Jax is happy to wear the muzzle, although will allow it to be removed happily Upon meeting a collie (unmuzzled as we were playing ball) Jax was happy to ignore and continue to play ball whereas Lizzie though "play" and as Lizzie does - Jax follows ;D Jax though was happy enough to run round and didn't really try to play lurcher style... even better Jax was easily distracted with the ball Jax has been around small dogs more over the past couple of days and has begun to understand that they cannot play the way he wants; so far he has been kept on-lead around the smaller dogs due to OTT behaviour previously... once he knows them better then we will try him off-lead Jax has learnt a lot over the past few days and is aware of the routine and the rules of the house Lizzie has learnt a lot as well, it is lovely to she her come out of her shell a little more and play with the toys more... this may be just because Jax wants that particular toy so she must have it.... but it is great to see. Jax loves toys & loves to chew (so far it has been paper, feathers, toys and rawhide chews so all good) and he loves to play with people as well as dogs - Isaac finds this great as he can play a little more, even Lizzie has started to join in ;D ;D Will try to get photobucket to work again to get some more photos up Jax is such a gorgeous, loving dog... so gentle with Isaac & so willing to learn and please he will be a true character for someone to take into their family
