Lovely updates Sara, so pleased that the crate and muzzle are helping to sort things out.
Lizzie really is blossoming in your care too!

Wonderful update Sara, it is great that Jax is learning boundaries. He is a really handsome dog and you sound like you are doing wonders . I hope to meet him again at the next SLR walk to see the changes (but that will also mean he hasn't been snapped up!)

Jax has had another busy, fun-filled day Isaac and Jax accompanied Matt and Lizzie for a weight check, whilst there we decided it would be interesting to see how much he weighs.... a good 23.05kg The walk to the vet tested Jax with quite a few things 1) being walked by Isaac - he excelled and walked lovely by Isaac's side ;D ;D 2) walking alongside a busy road with buses & lorries - Jax did well, once he learnt that he couldn't try and catch the bus 3) being in the vets - Jax was not at all phased, stepped on the scales with minimal encouragement (whereas Lizzie had to be lifted on!!) With a good amount of exercise and an improved diet, Jax is now as lazy as Lizzie.... he will happily sleep once we hoomans all sit down - until we stand then he is up and wanting to make sure that he isn't missing out on anything Jax still loves to play, he will now wait though until Lizzie tells him that she is in the mood to play - he will ask a few times throughout the day but not constant like he did to begin with; Lizzie is grateful for this ;D ;D ;D Out and about Jax has still largely been on-lead whilst around other dogs, he is great off lead with Lizzie and we will start to let him off a little more now he has calmed Jax has certainly given us a few giggles... one example: - today playing with a ball on a rope, Jax was happily tugging it trying to make me let go.... Lizzie came over and told Jax off and he imeadiately dropped it and Lizzie came to me as if to say "see mummy I made foster-bro give it to you" ;D ;D ;D ;D Then to end the day, Jax had his first roach Pics: we can share smile... ...and sleep will try and get some out-door photos soon!!!

Oh wait... you're gona get me now .... 2-legs like to play too..... I just wish they'd let me have my ball without holding onto the rope Time for a rest and a chew..... yes it is Lizzie's but she left it and said I could.... honest ;D Jax really does have a wonderful, playful personailty... and is much more beautiful face-to-face

Any chance of an outside photos of Jax either standing or sitting so that I can get it onto the main website. The photos that are on his thread blur when I try to re-produce them.

It has been another busy week with Jax... He continues to be a delight and is learning all the time In the house he does like to be your shadow and will demand a lot of attention, if told "not now" he will lie near by just to keep an eye on what you're doing . Jax and Lizzie play lovely together and it is clear that Jax has learnt when Lizzie is willing to play & will wait til then rather than bothering her rest which he did previously!!! Jax is still learning to sit and wait his turn for his food but it is a lot better than it was . He will wait lovely for a treat, as soon as he hears the treat box moving he is there sat waiting ;D. Jax is protective of his treats & willl hide any leftovers but is not aggressive if you remove it from him (although he will try to hold on to it - unless Isaac takes it then he drops it straight away ) Toys are loved and lovingly destroyed . Isaac loves to play with Jax & Jax will play gently with him . Jax does enjoy a bit more of a challenge when playing with the adults though!!! Out & about Jax is brilliant; he has great recall, loves ball & loves the water (today he decided that a swim in the canal was a great idea, wasn't detured when he couldn't get himself out- Matt helped him out & Jax jumped back in for a bit more then Matt had to help him out again ;D ;D ;D) Jax regularly plays with a number of dogs of various breeds & sizes, Jax has great fun running about & playing with them all. All of the dogs are able to stick up for themselves & will let Jax know if he is getting a little OTT jax is getting better at "reading" dogs generally and will leave alone those that don't want to play. Seperation anxiety is less of an issue than it was. If Jax is crated he will have his chew & sleep until we return, if not crated & Matt (who is generally around) goes out then Jax will pace for a while before settling Jax has easily slotted himself into our family, he is a loving dog that cannot get enough cuddles

Hello,
I'm loving your Jax updates....he is gorgeous
Could you tell me please how tall / heavy is he?
I'm looking for another dog to keep Amber company, but she is fairly submissive, shy and retiring, so it needs to be an independant soul who won't bounce on her too much....do you think Jax might be a bit too full-on?

Jax is about 25" TTS, and last weighed in at 23kg.
Lizzie was relatively shy when Jax arrived, although she likes to play it has to be on her terms. To begin with Jax was constantly asking her to play with him... it didn't take him long though to realise that she didn't always want to play. Now Jax will go up to Lizzie and give a gentle nudge as if to say "you wana play" but if he doesn't get a reaction he will sort himself out (either play with the toys on his own, ask us hoomans to play or just settle for a snooze!!).
I definitely think that Jax will be better with some canine company. A more sedate dog will probably help to keep him calm - Lizzie is very laid back in the house and we feel that Jax has followed suit as he was constantly up and about when we first got him!!! Jax does though need to be set the rules from the start and be told when the other dog has had enough and Lizzie is very good at telling him "No".
Out and about Jax does love to run & play with Lizzie and other dogs but at the same time is quite happy running about playing ball to wear him out!!!
I hope that helps - if you want any further info just ask

Jax is completely settled into our family routine and adapts easily to little changes (we have started to walk a little later first thing in the morning, for a little longer - jax was a little confused the first day or two but now settled) Evenings here are spent cuddled on the sofas... Jax happily cuddles up as well - unlike when he first came!!! Seperation anxiety is reduced, jax is happy to sleep in the safety of his crate . When just Matt goes out he still gets a little nervous but this is reduced if curtains are closed & he doesn't see him leave!!! Jax learns quickly - he learnt to give paw in 10mins playing with a police dog handler whilst Matt was chatting to another officer Next week will be interesting as we have a small person (baby) staying for a couple of nights... Will be interesting to see how he manages!!!
