Riley has yet to serve his 28 days, as he was handed in by a member of the public. He is a very even tempered dog, of around 3/4 years old. Being fostered in Surrey with 3 Lurcher bitches. He seems to be house-trained. Early days yet, so I will leave his foster mum to fill you in.

Here is Riley: Taken as he walked through the door at the MaD house. First impressions are that he is familiar with a home environment and is used to a crate although he yodels a bit when he's in it We suspect that he is/was a working dog but he has been well cared for and seems to be in good nick although there does seem to be a bit of a problem with one of his back toes which we will have checked when we get him to the vet on Wednesday, along with the all important check for a microchip. (I have been looking on Dogslost and find it sooo depressing that 'found' dogs aren't chipped). He's eaten well this evening and hasn't shown any signs of being aggressive over food and at the moment is sound asleep in his crate. Big thank you to Kim for catching this boy and looking after him over Christmas Will hopefully have more news on Wednesday.

He's much more delicate and pointy than Joe or Alfie. Those piccies really don't do him justice. He's had a fabulous first night. He stopped singing once he'd had some grub (which he wolfed down) and, apart from a bit of marking indoors, hasn't put a foot wrong yet. We haven't seen his full character yet but he's being thoroughly niee chap so far and a very easy dog to have around. I gave him a very gentle 'off to bed' and he went into his crate without any encouragement last night and we didn't hear a thing until gone 8 o'clock when Kasa jumped on our bed. At breakfast, he waited patiently with the girls and sat on command. He let me take the food away while he was still eating and he allowed Betty to approach and didn't show the slightest hint of aggression to her. So far he's shown no signs of hand shyness or fear at all. He is quite submissive but in a happy-to-be-submissive way. And he does that gorgeous whole body wag with a big smile on his face. It's why Kim called him Smiley Riley. He is over-muscled and underweight and I would like Auntie A to check him over as he's got a slightly odd movement on one of his back legs. There's no obvious swelling or injury but something is just 'off' about his gait. He may just be muscle bound. I would guess, he's probably a worked dog but by someone who has cared for him and knew what they were doing. I'll know better later once I've taken him for a proper walk and seen how he reacts to the wildlife round here.

8-)Quick up-date He had another peaceful night and had to be woken up this morning to go out for a pee! I think its safe to say that he is very laid back He walks well on a lead and was very polite to Mums Shelties so looks like he'll be small furry friendly. The bad news is that he's not chipped so he'll be having that done tommorrow along with a health check and vax's. Its such a shame as he appears to have been well looked after and is a nice dog.

Hi ,any more news on Riley ?Been thinking about him today, sounds like he's settled in ok. Aah he is such a gorgeous boy x You'll be pleased to know that Riley is doing really well and has quickly slipped into the MaD house routine I let him off lead yesterday (in an enclosed area), he had a quick blast at the pheasants and then came straight back to me (without a call) and then followed me quite happily as I walked around to perimeter, so looking promising. He's a really nice boy and has even started doing the 'electric banana' when I come in the house ;D
