Tilly came into us today from holding kennels, along with her friend, Dezzie a lovely brindle girlie. Tilly has gone into foster in Suffolk with Cath where she will be assessed and given some tlc before being up for adoption. Tilly is quite timid and quite depressed, so it was thought best to keep the girls together. I'll leave it to her foster mum Cath to fill you all in. Tilly

This is what we know about Tilly so far! She arrived here today and went into the secure yard. She virtually ignored us. Checked out the escape routes and pee'd in several places. She attempted to crawl through the catflap into the workshop which was nearly achieved! She has been completely hacked with a pair of scissors. Some...thing has even cut of her whiskers on her face. She has some scars on her face but several more recent scabs and scars on the rest of her body. She'll sell her soul for a treat though so there is hope that we can persuade her life is worth living. She's very, very skinny as well. She's had a bit of a pointless growl at my collie (who is stone deaf), been for a walk around the field with Mike (walks nicely on a lead), marked every 20ft apparently. She's lying in her cage with her eyes open at the moment. She NEEDS to go to sleep but she just won't at the moment. She very much likes her crate with the cushions off the old sofa in it. The first picture is a fairly accurate reflection of her opinion of the world right now and frankly, I can't blame her!

She is quite depressed - wonder how her nose got so bashed about poor girlie - but she did lick my hand a few times at one point as she was being transferred at Marks Tey so I think she will come round in time. So glad these two honeys are safe! Its kind of humbling to see them so trusting, after what they must have been through
Cath I put a couple of photos on the old thread! - I cropped off your bum haha And SO sorry I ran off with the dogfood...

The screen has gone all blurry again, it makes your heart go out for the poor dog . So glad she is with you and hopefully will settle down for a sleep soon . I'd like to get hold of the B****rd who did this to her.

I was told from the kennels that her face was very swollen when she first came in due to a RTA she has been on AB and her face has gone down a little since I first met her on Sunday but it still looks a little sore

What a sad little girl. Pleased that she's with Tilly Cath, there was blood on the car blankets this morning. Knowing how many nicks they have it's not surprising . Just hope one of them hasn't come into season. My car doesn't half pong this morning...hope it's just anal glands not a little 'package' that is eluding capture

Tilly has come into season which explains some of the grumpy behaviour with Charlie last night and given that my immediate thought was bleeding from her bottom, actually a relief!
She has had a very, very good night. Mike stayed up until about 3am with them (he loves this - great excuse to stay up all night playing computer games!). No accidents in the house at all so far. They were let out their cages when I got up at 9am (complete alarm clock failure this morning - kids late for school - sigh) and went straight outside.
News on cats: encountered my assertive female cat several times in the kitchen on the way though. On a lead at the moment. The cat did the usual spikes and hiss. Tilly looked bored. So, ok, we don't know what will happen on free-range yet but the initial signs are promising.
She has obviously been hit before. She attempted to steal little 'uns food this morning and received a firm no and hand signal. Cowered and collapsed.
Inside we have taken the next baby step. Crate doors are open and they are allowed free range of the office whilst under human supervision.
We're beginning to get eye contact and the start of watching us as we walk around the room. Small but positive steps. She has just been given a chew which she likes.
Trip to the vets booked for this afternoon - wouldn't normally take a dog in season but she has so many cuts etc, I think she may need antibiotics so needs must.

This one's really getting to me for some reason - maybe because she's a Flookie I'm so glad and relieved that she is safe and being cared for. As soon as she lets you, give those lovely fluffy ears a ruffle from me please Cath And good luck at the vets this afternoon

Day 2: Tilly is becoming more relaxed although specific events cause extreme anxiety. Normal, firm "no" causes cringe and collapse but general demeanour is improving. She had a big chew today which she demolished within 20 minutes. She went to see Uncle Walter today. Due to the number of dogs attending I had to take my Vet Phobic Husband along which was very brave of him. Uncle Walter reckons she is between 3 and 5. He can't be more accurate than that because the tartar on her teeth might be because of a hard life, rather than age. She weighs 19.5kg and he'd like to see another 2kg on her. No major issues today. Tilly was very well behaved and allowed lots of gentle fussing. The 5ft long double cage has had an extension added to it as Tilly was really struggling to find enough length. Photos below:

One small amusing thing that is emerging... Tilly likes a pillow. She looks like a very refined princess when she sleeps

She wasn't dreaming of better days last night unfortunately. Mike reports "bad dreams" which caused her to wake up and cry, unsettling Dezzie. This morning though, she is ok. Brighter and becoming a bit nosy.
She met her first "stranger" today. A 16 year old lad which gets a lift with my son to school. Ollie is an experienced dog person so greeted them with calm and positive body language. Tilly went up to say hello and accepted some fuss.
