Mike has just got back from taking Tilly for a walk in the woods. We'd decided that on the lead was the right thing to do given that she is in season and reaching the peak. They got into the woods and Tilly was on a retractable lead... she saw a rabbit, snapped the retractable lead and was off! She didn't catch the rabbit and came back to Mike once he had caught up with her a little.
When she was walking back (now off lead) she was very very good but walked behind Mike all the way. On a lead, she walks beside. I guess she's been taught to walk behind when used for hunting / coursing.
All's well that ends well... and Mike's looking at spectre rope to repair my mum's lead. (Spectre is stronger that steel!)

She knows her stuff. She will make a crackin' pet. My China is a highly trained ex hunter/worker and I can trust her any where with anything except cats, rabbits and squirrels

Jules I think the Kya spectrum, look at her feathering in your picture - amazing! Can't believe Tilly looks so well already, I the girlie. Saluki recall all the time anyway....the bargain is this: "you come back, I give you a treat" it works 95% of the time.

One particular instance in which Tilly's "recall" is horrendous is when she is in her bed and she does not wish to be disturbed. Especially if it involves going outside for a wee. In the cold.
Stone flipping deaf. And acts like a student protester sitting in the middle of the road refusing to be moved.

I think she could be the full Paddy Jules, she's pretty fluffy isn't she? Maybe that's why she was clipped - I think I would too ......ok, ok, only kidding folks.

Bless her xxx

I'm going for the full Paddy too, in which case I want her even more than I already did ...... And I reckon us Flookie owners need to get together for a Flookie Fest: I have got to see the Biff Buff Boogie ;D

Tilly continues to make good progress and is happy to greet visitors to the house. She generally gets up to investigate when people arrive but isn't in any way manic or "all over people." There's no wariness in her demeanour - just a laidback attitude towards things.
I have never met a dog who sleeps so much as she does! When we get up in the morning, Dezzie will be eager to get out of her crate and charge up and down the stairs but Tilly quite often just gives me that teenager "5 more minutes" look and goes back to sleep.
She (unless she suspects that she is going to be taken outside!) always comes when you call her in the house and likes a fuss and a stroke. She walks past the sensible cat without noticing it so long as it doesn't move!
She still eats quite fast and needs to put on some more weight.
She comes upstairs for a cuddle on the bed but doesn't go up there without an invitation! I'm waiting for that to change.
Mike just filled up the coal scuttle and made a huge sudden noise. She looked up from her doze, had a look round, and went back to sleep again.
She's doing really well!
Second set of jabs next week and then I think I'll try her out at dog club for some socialising. She is fearful/growly on a lead. We'll go to the "top class" where the dogs are very well behaved.

What is the official definition of a Flookie??? A Flookie is a feathered Saluki X Collie Lurcher and, as you're discovering, it also describes their character pretty well I 'invented' the term 11 years ago when we first got Judy and it seemed to resonate instantly with anyone who had got a 'Flookie'. I never imagined it would take off like it has - I even noticed someone using it on Facebook a few days ago

a-ha. Thank you! Mike called her a floozie today when he walked into the bedroom and she greeted him with a tail wag, a head bob and a wriggly "ok, you can come and stroke my belly".

That's fantastic news - the belly rub invite is about as good as it gets ;D ;D ;D And yep, Judy and Betty both get called Floozie or Hussy on a regular basis

My Foster Mum made me go outside and then she answered the phone and I was out there for a whole 10 minutes and it was cold. So when I came in my Foster Dad wrapped me up in his coat to warm up. That was 20 minutes ago. I might not give it back.... I've got a fleece on that I wore outside under 's coats as well!

Charlie (for those not aware, he is my 15 year old collie cross) would like Tilly to know that his courting days are well and truly over and could she stop offering him her lady bits cos he is too old and hasn't had anything useful in that department for over 14 years.
Poor bugger - she's following him about incessantly.

Older man syndrome......hopefully her crush will pass...
She is obviously aware that she's getting prettier and prettier adn wants to test out her charms! She's just testing them on the wrong subject!!
Kisses to her.....I'll send you Arthur back.....he loves Cassie's flirtations!

I think it's slightly more basic than that... she's in season!!!! Charlie definitely wants you to keep the whipper snapper that is Arthur... he didn't lie down for the 2 days he was here, it nearly killed him!
Anyway, Tilly's gone off Charlie this morning. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and she growled at him for coming within 3 feet of her. She is a right madam!!!
