We took Dezzie and Tilly to watch Sam play rugby today. Lots of dogs, people, cars and bizarrely enough about 400 people doing a fun run round and round the area where we were. Tilly walks beautifully on a lead. She wasn't too keen on other dogs and some kind of bull dog type got angry near her which caused similar levels of shout back. Other dogs got a bit of a rumble in her throat but soon calmed down when reassured. She just stands and rumbles rather than making any moves towards the dogs. She particularly disliked a small white scruffy poodle!!! However, it was perfectly feasible to stand and chat with other dog owners from a distance of about 5ft with no rumbles. She got lots of admiring comments, especially in her zebra print coat although Sam thinks we're giving her an identity crisis. I had to go to the loo and when I returned, I was honoured with a Tilly dance. These are not given out lightly and is her first way of expressing extreme pleasure. She was not phased by the runners or the cars which passed close by. She didn't attempt to chase anything or anyone. We passed seagulls, swans and cows, all of which were of absolutely no interest at all. She a bit loose on her bowel movements today. I think she possibly had too much cheese last night

Updates not in the least boring Cath - quite the contrary. So pleased she is coming along so well and responding to affection - great pics. I'm following all this with special interest as you can imagine, since these two were my first 'dog run'

Did someone mention Affie?? Apart from the photos, pictures and ornaments etc Lewis has never seen an Affie (since we have had him). Still trying to get together with Sylvie and her 2 Affies. She is lovely. Big gentle hugs to her. Never too many photos or updates.

In accordance with the normal rules of the house (those being that if I have nothing to worry about, I worry that I have forgotten what I should be worrying about... ) Mike waited until I had gone to work and... LET TILLY OFF THE LEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, Tilly looked absolutely incredible striding out and running free. She absolutely loved it We're getting loads of Tilly Dances now when we come in or out. She also managed to find the bags of treats in the utility room today (on a 4'6" shelf) and was seen sneaking back into her bed carrying the entire bag. I'd like to say this behaviour was corrected but we're just so happy when she does something vaguely independent without looking over her shoulder for a beating / shouting fit (or whatever has been done to her!) that we just quietly removed them. She's also discovered the joys of our bed and has begun thinking about the start of a roach but we're not there yet. As I quite like a siesta, this is mine and Tilly's quiet time. It's a good job I am in there on my own because Tilly takes up more room than my 5ft10" husband!! She is so soft and gentle. We're loving seeing her come out of her shell. I will try to take some more photos of her tomorrow - the light in the evening just doesn't do her justice!

As promised - some more photos of Tilly off-lead and having a great time. Her recall is really, really good. She also "checks back" alot. Oh - and she'd like everyone to know that she is made of sugar and cannot possibly go out in the rain. We were only out for about 10 minutes so I could take some photos of her in the brief sunshine which is why she doesn't have her coat on! Recall - even to Mike with a scary orange stick in his hand!! Having a bound about. Watching Dezzie being stupid over a ball. She can't understand what all the fuss is about. Being Gorgeous!!!

I feel so much for this little one. I bet she will be absolutely stunning once she gets her beautiful coat back and some of those scars out the way. She's gorgeous.

I am in love with Tilly, Ajax as well send lots of kisses and licks. Do you mean she might be a Saluki / Afghan cross Donna? WOW...can wait to see her shine It's just those legs Simona - I keep thinking Affie but I can't see it anywhere else. It could even be that she's just got a really bad case of kennel coat - Kasa was very similar when we got her Like everyone else, I just can't wait to see how she turns out I do know it's going to be 100% gorgeous. And that little dance Cath is why our Judy's nickname is 'Oodywiggle: it's got to be a Flookie thing ;D

It's currently a really good recall! I suspect that as her confidence grows we will go through the stage of "not now!" and it's not been tested under major distraction.
When Mike and I go out with the dogs, we generally station ourselves 30 metres apart on the field and call the dogs between us. We started off doing this in the yard with about 4 metres between us and have just extended this. It creates a kind of enclosure within the field by doing this.
It's entirely different to being on a walk in unfamiliar territory and letting them explore ahead. We're definitely not there yet!

Sooo... what sort of coat do we think Tilly will have? Are we talking the full Paddy? Or something more in the Kiya spectrum? Or maybe smooooth Lewis? Any bets?
