Lizzie is back home after her operation. She walked out of the surgery, but unfortunately when I opened the back of the car she instinctively tried to jump in, and hurt herself. I then lifted her in, and carried her into the house when we got back, but I'm cross with myself for 'letting her' hurt herself like that, but it was done in a moment. I hope she did not do any damage. She is now sleeping peacefully in her crate.
Graham said that she had an unusually large uterus, which necessitated a longer incision. She had probably had at least one litter, so maybe that's why she has been so defensive around boys. Happily that is behind her now. She was 19.95 kg, and is no longer desperate for food, so maybe this 20kg is her 'proper' weight?
I hope she'll soon be back to her loving, bouncy self.

So pleased to hear that Lizzie's operation is over and that she is safely home with you These hounds' inclination to leap around when they shouldn't is quite stunning Don't give yourself a tough time about Lizzie's leap Keith, that could absolutey have happened to any of us. Do hope she'll soon bounce back without any lasting damage. Hugs and ear ruffles all round please (appropriately shared out between 2 and 4 leggers!) Audrey x

Lizzie spent a quiet night in her open crate. I slept downstairs just in case she needed me. It was Caspar who asked to go out at 5.30, but she did not want to join us. I then got up at 7.30 to make the tea, and she was still reluctant to stir, but after she had a little food with the Metacam on,(in her crate!) she then got up and came down the garden for wees and poo. She is walking more slowly than usual, but tailwags are available!

Lovely Lizzie has had a good day, eating well and certainly "back with us". She has been out for a couple of on lead walks and is interested in all the smells as usual. She has looked at her wound a couple of times, but has not 'set to' and licked it, I think the sticky plaster is maybe just a bit itchy. Tonight she is peacefully asleep in her crate, and I am back to my own bed. Nighty night!.

Our girl's vitality during the day seems pretty much back to normal. On our walks today she would obviously have liked to be off climbing trees after the squirrels, or just racing around down on Whitecliff! In the evening, I think the modern word is "chilled" isn't it ? But she will have to wait until Graham gives her the "all clear" on Monday morning.

Lizzie had her post-op check this morning. Her dressing was hanging off, but still needed Graham to ease the last bit of sticky away. He said it all looked fine, and he was able to feel the wound site without her showing any discomfort, so he declared her fit to run. She had lost a little weight(0.4 kg) but I'm sure she'll soon put it on again now she can run up a big appetite!
She also had her second vaccination, so she's all set now for that forever sofa.
To celebrate we had an off-lead run on the way home. This afternoon we met Monty and Colin down on Whitecliff. Lizzie crouched down ready to pounce as Monty charged towards her, then as he got close she jumped up to play, only to have him roll over in submission! Is this the fierce "problem child" we've all been hearing about? They were fine together then, now that defference had been paid!
She is such a happy girl now she has been able to "blow the cobwebs away"!
