Oh I so wish I was allowed another whippet *sigh* Blue sounds like the perfect boy (if a little on the chunky side! Aalto is only 12kgs!) He sounds so like my Aalto. He's also the slowest eater in the world, like he chews each kibble one by one! Lulu hoovers hers up and has to be distracted from standing over poor Aalto Yep, a kibble at a time!! Just to say he's still doing great, sooner he can get rid of those man rocks to the rear the better though! Hopefully, all being well, Blue may be having an initial visit tomorow morning to see if he and prospective adopter's dog get on.

Things are looking up here at the moment so all systems go for our initial visit. We are all very excited, except for Holly who is drugged up on Rimadyl, and Tramadol so is too dopey to do too much, especially as this is the first good sleep she's had for 24 hours..... Dachsy's and their backs!

Blue had visitors this morning and things went very well, hence the Reserved" sticker now on his bum! Holly has given her seal of approval and also put him in his place (the sooner he's done the better!!). Blue was his usual quiet self but he's had alot to deal with over past week and the gorgeous chap has coped well. Blue & Holly had a nice walk togther. Blue's new Mum and Dad will be collecting him next weekend and will deal with his neutering there.

We have had a lovely morning meeting Blue. He is such a lovely boy - irresistible in fact! So we are all excited about picking him up next weekend! Thank you to everyone who had their fingers and paws crossed for us and Blue. I must say a very special thank you to Sue and Russ for inviting us down, and making us all feel so welcome. So thank you! I think he will make a very welcome addition to our family.

Missy is trying to entice Blue to stay with her womanly ways! Blue is having none of it thank you! He's busy dreaming of his new sister and home.

Stil lno news on his results. Vet has promised to telephone me before 6.30pm tonight. Results came in after he started surgery and he hasn't had time to study them properly. Will update later.

Well, surgery closes 6.30pm and 25 minutes later I still have no telephone call, not best pleased with them as they are usually so good. Maybe an emergency came in. Anyway I will be on case at 8.30am in morning.
Update tomorrow

The Head Vet just rang! Most of the results are in and there is nothing to worry about, there are still results to come back but they are not expecting anything major! He reckons there is still some form of infection and they will try new medication and then Blue's new vet can follow on from that. They are kindly getting a record of all they have done so far ready so his new vet knows what is what!
He has suggested that Blue waits for his vaxinations until clear of infection. Has asked we take Blue in tomorrow at 5pm to check one more time and get prescription. I see all this as very positive news for Blue and I know Marcia, like me, will be very relieved! I will get him weighed when I am there and we can see how much he's lost this week.
He's had a quiet day, a game of ball in garden. Didn't want to go outdoors when it rained though!
Missy is going to miss him, she's quite fond of him already. Minx!!

Yes I am greatly relieved! Bless him! I can rest easier tonight now! I think Holly will like him even more now that she has a rain hating ally!! Give Missy a big cuddle from me and say sorry, but she still has Robbie She's a big softie isn't she!! And so no-one feels left out a cuddle for Robbie and a special one for Blue

Sorry, bit delayed in getting this update posted as vet delayed our appointment until 5.50pm as he had an emergency operation to do. We looked again at the results: 2 x X-ray, 1 x ultra-sound, cultures etc taken, results from lab. Vet again confirms that there are no stones, crystals, tumours, cancers and nothing wrong anywhere with the shaft/penis etc. - it is just the infection hanging on slightly so he's has given some stronger tablets which Blue has to take for 10 days. He has had his first lot tonight. (He is now on 2 x Baytril 50mg tablets once per day and 1.5 Urinaid tablets one per day). About the drugs he's now on: Urinaid is a highly palatable nutritional supplement to help improve urinary tract health in dogs. It provides potent antioxidants combined with an effective calming ingredient to offer exceptional nutritional support. Bladder disorders are by far the most common urinary tract disorders (UTDs)seen in dogs. Urinaid is specifically formulated to help aid these disorders by displacing bacteria from attachment sites on the urinary tract wall thereby providing a perfect adjunct to other veterinary medicines. Baytril is a broad spectrum antibiotic used for treatments in bacterial infections The vets have also supplied a copy of Blue's treatment for Blue's new Mum Marcia to pass to her vet thus ensuring Blue gets continuity of treatment/care. We have had a lovely day again with this little chap, had a good game of tug with a toy, he was very keen on that. He's really perked up alot today, seems much more contented. Although he seemed less than keen on the rain he did wander out when he needed to relieve himself. Blue doesn't really ask to go out so all day I have been studying what signs he shows just before he goes out - he just seems to get restless and at one stage he did come and look at me! One for Marcia to study in greater detail over the coming months I think His weight; when I first took him a week ago he was fidgety on the scales and it bounced around between 21kg and 21.3kg, in end the nurse said 21kg. I think they just rounded it down as he wouldn't stand still. This little chap has been on a diet ever since with no treats so I was flabergasted when they said 21kg again tonight He really does look as though he's lost some - I promise! He's even starting to show signs of where a waist will be Told vet I was feeding him what a dog of 17kg would eat, maybe Marcia's vet will reduce intake even more? Ironing now calls!!!!

Thank you for the detailed update Sue. Hopefully this will soon clear up, and stay cleared up! I can vouch for the fact he has a waist. We all remarked on how different he looked on Sunday compared to the photos. My hubby says that Blue has developed muscle from having exercise again and as everyone knows muscle is heavier than fat, hence the lack of weight loss even though he is thinner. Ever the optimist isn't he! Just as well we have a fair few tugging toys and balls - those were Tigger's favourites too, so we are set up! The way he asks to go out will be interesting. Holly goes to the door, and if no-one notices will run to you and back to the door. Tigger used to just stand by the door for as long as it took to notice him, but of course you could never tell how long he'd been there! Anyway we will all have lots to learn about each other and I for one can't wait! Thank you for taking such good care of him Sue. And I hope there isn't too much ironing!

Blue seems to have more confidence today and decided to take one of Russ's slippers for a walk onto patio, no damage done though, I think he just liked it! He also seems to have perked up a bit, a less worried look but he does have the loveliest of frowns!! Have a few photos to put on and you'll see the difference in how he looks at camera, more relaxed. Also a side on view, can anyone see the difference? Look towards the rump end and you can see it's starting to go in! As food is in short supply in his mind (compared to what he obviously used to eat) - he seems to be eating his Burns a bit quicker! Playing with the Kong Octopus Honest -I am thinner!! Some nice shots of his face I am seriously going to miss this boy when he goes!
