I'm always concerned to hear of reactions to ticks after someone I know lost their dog to Lyme's disease. Admittedly he let it go without taking action until it was too late so I totally agree that it's best to take action straight away. I hope it's just a reaction to the tick bite. Good job she likes to roll over for a tummy tickle. Hope it get's better quickly

I know what you mean Christine. You worry that you're over reacting don't you? Especially due to the cost of even walking in the door of an out of hours vet. Initially, the nurse said to watch and wait but when I explained how large the red area was, she referred to the vet. I couldn't get hold of Jenny, so decided to do what I would if she was my own. They were excellent, as I phoned at 3.40 pm, and they were booked up until 5.30 pm but said to come around 4.00 pm and they'd squeeze us in. Well, we were out of there by 5.00 pm so I can't complain. And she's taking it all in her stride, but getting all the various tablets down is getting harder! Hidden in her dinner - nope. Hidden in Pilchard cake - nope. Hidden in cheese - nope. Hidden in heart - maybe, if it's big enough! Never had a dog that wouldn't wolf down a tablet hidden in any of the above before.

With Rowlf's recent episode I was burying tablets in sausage - that worked!

Hope she'll be fine now.

Bless her, poor Lizzie. Sending lots of healing vibes for teeth and tick bites and take your tablets you norty girl. Molly is the same and will refuse to take tablets in any way unless wrapped in ham.

Poor Lizzie. I hope it is just a rather extreme reaction to the tick bite. I have had success burying tablets in a spoonful of peanut butter (but it is messy!)

I sympathise with the tablet taking. My Daisy won't take anything that has a tablet in. She sniffs every treat before taking it. I even got one of those tablet grinders but she'll just leave the part of the food the powder's been mixed with! Good luck with your efforts and hopefully you'll find something that will work

Poor Lizzie that looks sore. It's a pain when they sniff out every tablet, Alfie does that but Tilly just thinks they are treats. Pate and sausage usually does the trick with Alfie. Do hope the AB' do their magic. You and Andrew are doing a grand job and of course Alfie and Gretta Spaghetti.

I'm a very cruel Daddy when doggies won't take their tablets.
I hold the mouth open and push it down the side of their throat, followed quickly with something they do like.

Oh trust me Keith, we tried that too!! More success with her AB this morning by breaking into much smaller bits and hiding well inside fresh heart.

We nailed it with the meds today, spreading them out throughout the day, CystPro in her breakfast, AB's hidden in freshly cooked heart after our morning walk, Lymes tablets in pieces of warm sossidge before tea, and finally Metacam in her tea of Wainwrights/freshly cooked mince.
