Reading this post has made me feel a million times better. Lizzie is such a special old girl, in the time we had her she made such an impact on me especially, she loved my husband too but I really enjoyed her company. I know it's the best thing all round what I've done for her, I had my youngest baby nearly 14 weeks ago and still a hormonal mess lol! I sincerely appreciate the kindness from you all, Ruthie gave me some big hugs yesterday which made me feel lots better! What a wonderful community you all are, seeing you all pull together years down the line for special lady Lizzie has really made me smile, she deserves the very best which is what she's already getting xx

Thanks for those pics Keith. I have to say that the photo's don't show just how pretty Lizzie is. She sometimes has that proper 'Dobby' look which is too cute! Here are a few from me... In the garden Walkies Trying out Greta's bed in the conservatory - it's a bit big! The kitchen bed's a better fit And finally....fairly soon after roach #1, came roach #2

Well done Loz and all that helped get her down. I will start up a thread for her. Please excuse me if i have to delete a few comments when doing so, it just makes it easier for peeps to read and get to the gritty stuff, Lizzie. xx

We think she's more likely 7 years old than 8 looking back at her original thread. She's certainly a youthful girl and doesn't act her age anyway. Oh yes, and she's finessed her way onto the sofa with Andrew this evening!
She might be a sweetie but she's not a push over. Not too happy with rude or bouncy dogs coming up to her...respectful greetings are required. That said, she's easily managed, and this may well settle with feeling more secure and when she's allowed off lead. Alfie has himself received a couple of (deserved) telling offs from her today for barking at her, firstly this morning when she was let out of her bedroom, and this afternoon when she ran down the stairs. She does enough to make her feelings known and that's it, and she also responds to being told.
We went to register Lizzie with Graham the vet today, and he remembered her from when she was with Keith.
Still no sign of prey drive but we didn't see a single cat on today's walks. Typical - when you want one, there isn't one to be found!!
She enjoys her food, eats very daintily and doesn't seem at all interested in training type treats on walks. She's tucked into a rice supper treat yesterday, and enjoyed this evenings fish twists.
Our initial assessment is that she'd be happy in a home with either no children or grown up (respectful) children. With a steady, respectful companion dog, or as an only dog if someone was around most of the time. She does seem to bond very quickly with her humans. I've left her for half an hour today, and Andrew came home just before me to a quiet house.

Here's a few more pics of lovely Lizzie. Enjoying the early morning sunshine. You talking 'bout me? Too hot to do anything but chilling. She likes the choice of sofa's. I left her for an hour and a half yesterday and all was fine and quiet when I came home. I've found that shes not fussed by biscuit type treats, but does like home made pilchard cake and cooked heart! I hope we find her a forever mum who likes baking. x

Lizzie will be booked in for a dental shortly as on examination from the SLR Vet Graham, she has a few teeth with inflammed gums that need descaling an sorting out. Hopefully pearly whites by next week.

Hopefully pearly whites by next week. Ohhh no, I'm so sorry If I had known whilst she was with us I'd have had her sorted. I feel awful, she did have a check up when vaccinated the other month and a claw trim. She's obviously such a sweetheart she just put up with it. I really am sorry, I hope she feels a lot better afterwards bless her x

So, we're nearly 48 hours post dental. Lizzie had to have several teeth removed, including her two little front teeth, but the rest are indeed pearly white. Whoever takes this little lady on will need to give her good food, healthy treats and maintain that with regular brushing to avoid any future problems. I've not started brushing yet as her mouth will still be a bit tender (and she has a stitch in her gum), but as soon as we get the all clear from the vets I'll be buying another toothbrush.
Lizzie's being a good girl taking her meds, as she also has a slight bladder inflammation which she's having AB's and a supplement for, plus Metacam for her mouth.
We finally met a cat yesterday evening, it was cottage loafing on the grass glaring at us and so I walked Lizzie past it. She didn't see it so I doubled back and walked her about 3 feet from it. When she finally saw it, there was definite interest but she didn't make a sound and came away with gentle encouragement. She would certainly chase if off lead.
We're trying to get a little bit of weight on Lizzie (1-2 kg's needed), but as she refuses any treats (except cooked heart) on walks, we're having to be a bit creative. Andrew went to the local butchers yesterday and bought a big bag of frozen dog mince which he cooked up last night. Well, it smelt as good as my cottage pie, and all the dogs wolfed it down!!

Ohhhh bless Lizzie. She's very lucky to have you Loz. She had antibiotics with us too for UTI. She wasn't with us a long time but we tried so hard to get some fat on her, following vets advice etc. I personally feel beyond guilty that she's had to have her teeth done and that our vet missed that I'm glad she's settling well, she's such a darling x

Little Lizzie's really going through it at the moment. We were outside this afternoon doing a clear up in the garden, shed and garage, when I took a break to give Lizzie a fuss. As she often does, she plopped over to show me her tummy, when I saw a livid, wine red 'bruise' of several inches on her tummy/groin, in the middle of which was a big, fat tick!! We removed the tick, and somewhat concerned phoned the emergency vets for advice. Due to the size of it the vet advised we bring her down so off we went. The vet said it could be a reaction to the tick bite, or possibly Lymes disease. So we've been sent home with a course of tablets to treat for the latter as it's better to start treatment immediately than play the 'wait and see' game. (Colin's Monty was very much in my mind during our trip). The vet even took a photograph as she said she'd never seen anything like it before, and wanted to share it on a vets forum!! Poor girl now has to take several meds which is a bit of a struggle, as she's not a very food orientated dog. She's been treated with Advocate, but we didn't realise that this doesn't cover ticks, so will be getting her a Seresto collar PDQ.
