We brought home Elly expecting to make her comfortable for the night and have a good feed and some love; and then expecting to have to have her put down. At 10 years + this dog has bounced back. Major surgery to remove malignant cancer and neutering to try to restrict the spread. She never stops fighting for life. She is bouncing back daily. She has such strength of character, and is so easy to fall in love with. Elly is now sponsored by so many caring individuals who have made it possible to give Elly care for life. She is loved here and spoilt rotten. We can never repay the debt we owe so many lovely people who have given so freely to Elly. She will want for nothing and she is SO loved. Heartfelt thanks. God bless you all. And this week, queuing to go out in the garden Excuse the fat woman. But look at Elly go. Thank you all so much for giving Elly that extra time. Love you all. xx

Update - Elly now regularly goes offlead. She isn't bothered, but has a little run and then realises that her back legs don't keep up with her front legs, and ends up in a sprawl. She goes from lovely to beautiful and her loving character is now coming out. Stood with her head in my lap whilst I typed this. She's a star. ;D

Elly has done so well in your care Jenny. What stars the pair of you are. Especially like the pic of her waiting to get out into the garden. Such a beautiful face. Eleanorxxxxxx

Elly visited Pishiobury Park this morning with Mim, Sofi, Megan, Seamus, Erin, Murphy & Benjy.
The lively old lass enjoyed herself enormously, & met some new friends:

I'm delighted to report that Elly continues to go from strength to strength.

Nice to see Elly out enjoying herself with pals and what's more...all glossy coated and with her smashing blue collar and tassle. Couldn't be more happy for you and Jenny and the brave grey girl....no matter what the future holds Elly is having a good time now. Love as always Eleanorxxxxxxx

I picked up the lab report from Barney today. Elly has aggressive neoplasm. At least we now know what to look for and how long she has. Approximately 12 months. At the moment she is going from strength to strength so let's hope that all the medicines and supplements we are giving and the change of diet will slow down the spread. She has had her vaccinations this week and like a good girl didn't murmour. She goes back in two weeks for the follow-up and my vet will give her a going over again. There is one suspect lump that we need to monitor. We won't be putting Elly through any chemo as we want her to enjoy the health that she has got for however long she can. If it hadn't been for all of you she wouldn't have been here now and enjoyed yet another walk to Clayton Hills. She is just loving the freedom right now, and that's good

How do these dogs just- well cope and get on with life? They are an inspiration to us all! They sure are - their resilience in overcoming all sorts of trauma & past ill-treatment is amazing, & Elly is a wonderful example of this trait.

I think we are going to have to get her insured Laurie. She thinks she is a born again puppy at the mo. We meet a regular walker who adopts old greyhounds. he has four oldies at the mo. One of them has taken a shine to Elly. Today they ran off in the woods and out the other end. Elly came back dragging herself along with a big smile on her face. He came a little bit behind smiling also. I am gonna have to question that lab report!!!! That report means 11 months to go!!! I don't think Elly knows that. I will take the camera out this weekend and get some footage of the old pup doing her strutt!!! ;D I think the high strength joint pills and vitamin A have made her go mad ;D
