8-)Barney and I picked up little tiny Ellie this afternoon and she went straight to the vets for a checkup and microchip and vax. She was a brave little girlie. I was a little worried that her milk might not have dried up from having had pups in the last 10 weeks, but Sue, the vet thinks that is all drying up nicely. Little Ellie whippet has a lovely disposition. She snuggled all the way to the vets from holding kennels. Our lovely ladies at the holding kennels did a great job with her in the time that they had her. She has some heavy dandruff and coat loss, weighs 13 kilos, but another kilo should see her looking great. Ellie is so trusting. I am in love. Thank you Billywhippet for the lovely little collar that arrived this morning. It fits little Ellie with a little room to spare, she is that much of a dot Here she is to drool over... She is a total cuddle magnet. At holding kennels. Ellie is only a baby who has had to grow up far too fast so we are looking for a home where she is going to be pampered. No-one who works more than a couple of hours a day please. That means a couple. Thanks.

If only I was into small dogs.............................
Little Ellie has thus far proved to be an absolute dream. She obviously thrives on TLC, which was immediately evident by the way she snuggled up to Jenny on the drive back from the holding kennels, & when Mummy Chook went into her house to fetch a fleece she was stood on the passenger seat looking for her to appear again.
The tail that was firmly between her legs when we met her soon emerged, & she's proving to be a happy little soul, (whether that will be the case when she gets bathed later this evening remains to be seen ).
On our arrival back at the home-kennel, my lot & Callum heard us & there was a mass chorus of barking, which clearly worried Ellie, so I had to coax her through the front door. Once inside, however, she happily introduced herself to all of them, & seems to have taken a particular shine to Murphy & Callum.
She went into the garden for a wee & an explore, & then proceeded to examine her new surroundings, during the course of which she had a drink & some Burns chicken & brown rice before resuming her exploration.
Ellie is not at all timid, & is very inquisitive - she gives every sign of being an intelligent lass. She's now occupying the half landing where she can keep an eye on all the comings & goings.
Mummy Chook has sent her some pilchards, & she'll have a small taste of them once she's been bathed & I've administered Advocate. Later she can choose where she wants to spend the night - Jenny reckons I'll probably wake up in the morning with Ellie beside me under the covers, & the way she's shaping up I wouldn't be at all surprised! ;D
Hopefully some pics will follow later, but meantime, hand on heart this little girl is an absolute doll.

We don't know anything about her before the holding kennels received her. The probable likelihood is that she whelped badly in the care of some travellers and would be a liability in future, or perhaps she was lucky enough to get away. I do envy Barney taking her home with him. I love the littlies. But at the mo the status quo chez moi is balancing on madness, so it would not be fair to bring her back here. Jazz has offered to foster her, but I am not so sure Uncle Barnacles is going to let her go either.

Do you know, Jenny, how many puppies she had, and what happened to them? We have no history on Ellie before she went to the holding kennels Viviane - she was found as a stray in a location frequently used by travellers to abandon dogs that are surplus to their requirements. It would be very remiss of us not to thank Dee & Vera at the holding kennels for the care they have taken of the lass since she was handed in, & for their kind contribution towards her veterinary treatment, which is much appreciated.
Ellie has found several spots to relax comfortably in, but she's not yet had the opportunity to suss out my bedroom, so 'tis anyone's guess where she will end up spending the night............. ;D
