Poppy did have a broken leg, but with it being an old break the Vets didn't hold out much hope of the repair working. It didn't Poppy had her leg amputated nearly two weeks ago and has been waiting for check-ups to be released into SLR. She is on her way as I type, down to Poole to be fostered with Andy and Loz. She is a beautiful little soul. Around 18 months old, but we could be wrong. The kennels say that she hasn't lost her happy disposition and has had everyone in love with her. She is bouncy, even for a three legs, so will need a bit more crate rest for her recouperation, which we know she will get with Andy and Loz. I'm sure more photos will follow. But here is a kennel one.

Here are a couple of pictures of Poppy...she's just craving affection, so every time I reached for my phone, she brought her face up to mine making it impossible to take a picture of her. I was sat on the floor by the bed and at one point she just buried her little face in my lap, and then on another attempt at a picture, she stood on my lap and put her face against mine. She's a bit skinny, only 11.5kg so we'll slowly feed her up - the kennels have said she's a bit of a fussy eater, but we'll see. She's having a little snooze in her crate now. Someone please come and fall in love with this little girl...me thinks she's a little bit special.

Oh goodness me, look at that little face, it makes your heart melt. I think you two are going to have to put your big boy and girl pants on and be very brave and strong. I wish you luck

If we didn't have our two, she'd be going nowhere. But we have, so some other lucky person will get to have forever Poppy cuddles.

What a sweetie - it did take me a few seconds to find her third leg though! Well done Loz and Andy - so great that she won't be in kennels or the vets over Xmas.

She is lovely. Flo is only just 12 kg a very similar size to her. And will only eat her food when she is alone she doesn't like anyone watching!. She looks soooo special. Well done for having her. looking forward to all the photos. Have a super Christmas being pampered Poppy X

Already we can see what a playful wee thing she is. And she'd like to be on the sofa with Lizzie. The feeling's not mutual, lol.
She wolfed down her chicken and rice tea, then had a minutes play with her new toy. Tired quickly. A trip to the garden for another huge wee (amazing considering she's not taken a drink yet since collection). No idea that a fish skin treat was for eating.
And... The holy grail for a newbie from kennels, especially given the stressful day... A solid poop!!
Oh yes, and she was a dream traveller in the car. *tick*

So, first night/morning update: Whilst watching telly last night, we kept Poppy crated for about an hour so she settled, then I put a big bed on the floor and sat with her but she just wanted to get up on the sofa. I gave up and sat with her one side and Lizzie the other for the rest of the evening. She's a real snuggler. Another wee before bed, a gravy bone and upstairs to her sleeping quarters. We had some 20 mins of whinging as we got ready for bed, then she settled. A couple more short whinges during the night, mainly because Alfie woke and wanted to say hello and once I woke her up accidentally when telling him to get back to bed. Andrew got her up this morning and she's had some time out of the crate, breakfast and now sleeping it off. Lizzie's a bit grumpy with her, so it could be a fun couple of weeks trying to get them to rub along. Poppy though, doesn't react at all, other than seeking some reassurance from us.

Bless her she sounds like a little star. Hopefully Lizzie (who sounds as if she is being a typical Saluki bitch ) will be a bit more accepting of her after a couple of days
