Monty's vaccinations are all finished now, and his boy op has healed very nicely. He was much, much better going into the vets today, and got on the scales happily . His weight has stayed the same but he has so much energy, the vet is not worried. On reading up re Salukis, it seems they are very hard to put weight on, I think once he settles in his forever home, he will be less nervous and hopefully stop burning off all those calories!

Yep, we can confirm that about Saluki's! Lizzie eats loads for her size and is only maintaining what we think is her 'natural' weight. You can see a few back bones sticking up but she has good muscle tone and lots of energy (she dances/runs everywhere indoors).
Never had a Saluki but most of the ones I've seen are on the skinny side. I'm sure you're doing a great job fostering Monty. It sounds like he is relaxing already.
He does have the most gorgeous eyes. Can't wait to see how long his coat will be, it's really soft and growing nicely .
He's much calmer now indoors, trots in and out of the garden happily. Still sleeps in his crate all night, but has taken to the sofa during the day . Comes up to us now for a fuss, saw my friend for the third time the other day and allowed her to stroke him so definitely improving. He is a lovely boy!
Really pleased with the lovely Monty today. - we went for a (blustery) walk along the canal, then a drink sitting outside the tea room. Lots of people and dogs about - he's fine with other dogs, and today he was much better with people. Still nervous, won't let them stroke him, but walked past them all nicely and was relaxed enough to lay down while we were hot chocolating!
Will try and get a video of him tomorrow, he's so graceful when he runs but it will have to be in the garden, haven't let him off lead yet. We need an enclosed field or tennis court!
Well done - he looks like he has worked out that life can be good.
Have you got an 'I need a home' jacket, Sue? I found it really helped in both starting the conversation about rescue with anyone I met out and about with my fosters and also could help if he is nervous and prevent them approaching him too full on.

No I haven't got one Phillipa, that might help. He doesn't like people coming up to him though, although it would cut down on the long explanation I go into every time!
