Monty came in today. He is being fostered in Essex with two females, one lurcher and labradoodle. He is a bit shut down, but considering his last few weeks, that is par for the course. Monty will be at the vets tomorrow for a physical and will be assessed in the coming week. Thought to be around 2 years old (estimated) he has settled into his foster home quite well considering the upheavel of his life. This young sauki x has been shot by a pellet gun by the looks.

I'm heading over to visit him on Wednesday. Apparently we have more cold weather coming this weekend, so I've told Sue I'll take her some fleeces for him. Can't wait to meet him. Hopefully he'll have relaxed a little by then.

PS. Sue just sent me some more photos of him. Apparently he's eaten & is now lying down, but you can *literally* see the distrust in his eyes.

Poor little man - I hope he starts to come out of his shell and begin to realise life and people are not always cruel.

He's settling in quite well considering all he's been through. The wound is drying over but is a bit red around it. Loves his crate, happily went in there on his own. I'll send Jenny over some photos tomorrow and she'll put them on. Been a long day!

Poor baby - just want to hug him (though suspect that'd freak him out!)
Simply can't understand the motivation to hurt any animal like that. Despicable.

Monty had a good night, bit of whining at first but after a few words of reassurance, he settled. He's housetrained, only one little wee but I think that was nerves. He is very nervous when either of us walks towards him, but has been walking around the bungalow on his own although still not keen on the wooden floors. I've put mats down hopefully he'll get over that when his confidence improves. Seen a cheeky side - stole my notebook and took into his bed! Rosie has had a few grumbles but nothing too bad. Ellie pretty much ignores him, which surprises me as she usually makes a beeline for any type of lurcher.
I'll try and get some decent photos later, Jenny is going to put them on cos photobucket don't like me!

Poor mite has obviously been badly treated but strange that he is housetrained. Hopefully with love and care he will slowly learn to trust again. It is amazing how resilient dog are. I think he will be stunning when his coat grows back.

Glad to hear that he had a good night . My Molly has a shiny floor phobia and I am sorry to say that she has never got over it, so you may find that you have mats down for the duration of Monty's stay

Will be a little stunner when his hair grows back. Poor little boy will need Boo's fleeces to keep him warm when the weather changes, it's meant to get windy as well. As lurcher do, he will soon realise he is being well looked after and his cheeky side will come out. Thank you for Sue for starting his journey to a better life.

ha ha.... it is like before and after on the coat front... poor dog, shouldn't laugh. He does look a little less traumatised though.
