Thank you Marcia. To my count on the database, out of 700 odd dogs, we have had 33 bounce. Some of those due to the owners dying, or marriage splits. I am proud of that record. x One thing that really impresses me about SLR is the time and care taken to find just the right home for every dog, even if it takes months or years. I don't know of any other rescues that do that to such an extent.

Thanks for all the comments regarding my need to come on here in response to the incident had with my boarding dog and Bilbo and my support for Jenny. I love sighthounds and set my dog boarding buisness up in memory of my deerhound x boy when he died suddenly taken by cancer. I'm very into rescue and support local sighthound rescues and a galago rescue in Spain which I have helped out at . I already actually thought I was a member of this forum😀 . I'm glad the incident happened with me and not anyone else as I understood what happened and no one else got involved or was there to make judgement on the incident . . Onwards and upwards into 2017 with all the good work you all do supporting, rescuing ,fundraising and rehabilitating these beautiful souls xx

Welcome to SLR Mandy, it's great to have you onboard. I too lost a Deerhound X to cancer a few years ago. Angus was a very special boy and we'll always miss him. Hope you enjoy the forum now you have found us.

I'm not normally one to pass comment, however reading the thread I'm so glad that Jenny and the rest of the team do such a great job of assessing the characters of both dogs and humans. It is such a hard task and demands a level of commitment and sacrifice that I certainly don't possess. Tough calls require clear thinking, which is so difficult when emotions are playing a big part.
Keep doing what you are doing, the bigger picture shows you are getting it right.

This is the first dog I have ever returned Boo!! He is not the one that is the problem here Heather. Winnie has just laid into him and bitten her own tongue doing it. Just because he tried to lick her rear end. He didn't bite back. I can't muzzle four of the dogs and keep them separate all the time in a tiny house. And, you may be upset Heather, but you are not in the middle of it. I wish people would just accept that dynamics matter. We have moved several fosters along the way, not ours, but for other fosterers, and when it doesn't work the Foster is the one to know it. I'll be meeting up with Jillian and Michael shortly. Sorry about the ongoing discussion but I queried the problem with the little hairy and him not being muzzled on that first walk. That was all. Naturally, any disagreements in the house that came after that are totally unacceptable. For general information, none of you have any idea of the type of dogs we've fostered so it is totally unfair to be so judgemental. I did contact Jan Lake as promised at FH.

Don't worry about it Heather, it's in the past now. No ill effects for the little dog that was grabbed, Bilbo is now where he needs to be to have the best chance of a home & peace has been restored at Symmons HQ. It's all good. Let's forget about it. x

I am delighted to report that Bilbo found a safe home with Rebecca. She lives in Hampshire and has had two dogs previously from Hampshire Hounds, but not a Lurcher. She and I had a lovely chat a couple of weeks ago, and he is settling in very well. She is aware of his slight hiccup and is grateful that SLR gave him a good start and that everything we said about his lovely character is true. So I will just pop this over to Happy Endings. Be happy Bilbo, now Laddie again. x
