Thanks. Yes they are on their way here at the moment. Just some last minute adjustments of things to move upwards... it's been a while since we had a lurcher here and our previous lurcher, Basil, was very very chilled and not interested in anything but food and the sofa John's just telephoned me as he's just collected them - they are very lively.

I hope the journey went well Deborah and a huge thank you to John for doing such a large detour off his usual route. I reckon they'll calm down a lot when you change them over to the Burns food. The food they've been eating is way too high in protein.

Thanks - I went downstairs this morning to find two very very lively dogs bouncing off the walls and sofas and John in the middle of them looking like he hadn't slept a wink. ;D We let them into the garden and they ran around madly and played for about an hour. They are panting alot. I've given them James Wellbeloved complete low protein (21%) as we couldnt get any Burns round here, not even from Pets at Home in Luton. I'll have to order some.
I can hear them 'singing' downstairs with John so I'd better sign off for now.

Hi, thank you so much for transporting them Jackie. We are very grateful for that. It was an eventful drive home when they reached the forest they had their faces firmly pressed against the windows. They greeted me like a long lost friend on arrival.
All is calm right now - at least I can't hear anything downstairs and John isn't calling me. We will take them for a run in the field this morning.
I don't know how to upload photos so please could someone tell me how to...?

Hello everyone, thanks for uploading the pictures - I will master photobucket! Thanks for the link. Last night was a lot calmer than the first night. They were spark out from about 8pm, became lively and wanted to play about 11pm and then settled again in the early hours. Right now they are snoozing after a short run in the garden and then breakfast. They are occasionally panting a little but nothing like they were yesterday. I tracked down some Burns in a village not so far from here yesterday - it was the last bag! They saw our cats last night (through a window) and became very excited, our cats growled and hissed at them and disappeared. This morning they saw one of the cats through a fence - again very excited and they rushed as close as they could. I didn't get a sense of any aggression but more that they wanted to play. They were very very interested. When I said 'no' they came to me but kept going back to the fence to check out the cat. This cycle happened about 8 times - until our cat eventually disappeared into the house. Of course we are keeping them all separate until there is more calm - any advice on introductions would be gratefully received. Our previous lurcher was very laid back with cats and there was only one of him - these two are very enthusiastic, bouncey and curious - and I would imagine terrifying if you are cat sized. I know that have lived with cats. We will take them for a long walk and run in the field this morning, it's a lovely sunny day here.

You are doing a fantastic job with them, and I'm sure they will soon settle in to your routine. As everyone has said, the food will make a difference, and them settling in will help too. I suspect the panting could be stress related, and that will settle soon too. I'm afraid I have no advice regarding the cats, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with similar experiences.
