Little update on Esther... she coped well with her op last month & is now fully up and running.. quite happy to revisit the vets, which we do regularly for a weigh-in and just to keep it familiar! She is a calm & gentle dog (the only one my daughter's little JRT has ever allowed into her house without objection ) ... but not when she sees a cat I'm afraid She occasionally has the odd wobble - a couple of times near water - something from her past I suppose ..but on the whole seems very happy with her lot She travels happily in the car & was perfectly behaved when we went to do a homecheck the other week... it just feels as though she has always been here

Esther chases a crow on the beach at Bembridge... ;D We've just had a lovely SUNNY week on the Isle of Wight (main purpose was to give my 90yr old mother & aunt a holiday.) I was so proud of Esther - she took all the coming & going in her stride & behaved beautifully. Only one blip: she absolutely hated the ferry... I've never seen a dog shrink so quickly .. poor thing clung to the floor & leapt straight into the car when we returned to it. I think it was the engine vibration - she just felt unstable. She loved running on the beaches & paddling, but didn't quite understand why the water tasted funny. It was great to meet up with Fran et al for a nice lurchery walk too (more pics on gen.chat later) Back home, she continues to settle in: she does give me heart-in-mouth moments when disappearing into the distance at 50mph.. but always gets back safely. I can leave her at home for 2-3 hours now, she has a 12hour bladder & is not an early riser (suits me perfectly!) She remains a little 'aloof' with most people but generally has loads more confidence. Last year I assumed I was getting a smooth coated Flookie with some light feathering... but I have a very hairy dog!!! Can't believe the new coat she has grown - her tail is wonderfully thick & elegant now Exit stage right... but you can see the growth!

Lovely pics. Glad you had a lovely holiday. I've sat on the edge of that carp pond every year from when I was born up until my teens. Some of my happiest childhood memories are in those gardens. Thank you for posting.
