Two weeks in and it feels like she's been here forever. She seems so settled, happy and very much enjoying life. Her relationship with the cat improves every day - she no longer chases her and they are often relaxing in the same room - they have even shared a very tiny nose . The cat still prefers to keep the higher ground when they are together but so would I if I was that small. Suzy is far less needy now - though she prefers to be with me most of the time she often takes herself off to another room to do her own thing. She regularly puts herself to bed. She loves her walks and enjoys doing laps of the garden, I just have to try and convince her now that my veg plot is not her toilet. She loves having visitors and is so gentle with the small ones - she senses they are littler than her and doesn't ambush them - she is such a gentle soul. My friends and family are crazy about her and my 4 year old nephew is extremely impressed by the new addition. She was brilliant with my friends mini Shnauzer but less brilliant with a lab/springer X we know - there was lots of snarling it was clear she felt threatened for some reason when they were in a room together but on the walk she was fine so this will just take time and patience. She's a really quirky girl and has a real puppy side - I've discovered that blowing raspberries on her belly sends her silly ;D She is great with her commands and is learning all the time (thanks again Cath and Mike for all you did with her - it's made our lives a great deal easier!). She has spent small amounts of time on her own with no problems and we are slowly increasing that time so that there is no huge shock if we have to go out and leave her for a few hours. She has already spent an evening in the care of grandma who thinks she's gorgeous and who no doubt intends to spoil her at every opportunity. She cried for ten minutes, then forgot all about us We love you Suzy. Suzy would like to send a big to you all I PROMISE to get more photos up soon but have a massive camera problem - no less than 4 of them in this house and all broken!

When Suzy first came here - she would get grumpy in the evening, so we established bed time which she loved and we found she would put herself in her crate as well.
The lab/springer was probably just too much for her - they can be very full on. If you "protect" her from him by making sure you are between her and the other dog, she should get the message you're in charge and will protect her and will eventually relax if the other dog is similarly kept under control.
I am so impressed by you and Suzy and the way you've handled the cat issue and helped her settle. She is a sensitive, funny, loyal little character - she just needed the right mum!
I am not the sentimental type at all but your message today brought tears to my eyes!
