Suzy has been a really good girl about meeting Cracker. She's being a bit nervy but no growling or guarding. She's doing her impression of chilled out dog, lying outside his crate listening to him sing!

A photo of clever Suzy who does sit very nicely now. She loves to show off what she can do! Also a picture of my designer fosters who match beautifully with my permanent resident!

We've just given Suzy a bath which didn't impress her very much. She smells and feels divine now. She was very good but not impressed.
She is becoming such a character now. Mike is totally smitten with her. Cracker is also rather keen to play with her... too keen at the moment and he got a right mouthful off her today when he got too bouncy and too "in your face."
She's still quite scared of things but responds by coming to me or Mike for reassurance or hiding behind us.

Some lovely pictures of Suzy taken by Jules (fabapocalypse) when we went out today. Suzy mainly told Cracker to leave her alone when he attempted to get her to play but there was a 5 second moment when she actually played back. mimsmum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=13561Mostly she mooched, ran really fast, investigated smells and other things and people on the beach and was polite and calm with Sykes. A little skittish at first but settled nicely. She is such a sweetie.

Suzy continues to make good progress. She is happy to let us take charge and she's adapted to my teenagers returning very well. She accepts they are in charge as well.
She keeps allowing Cracker to push her out of the way for fusses and cuddles so we make sure she gets some special times as well. She is a total sweetie - such a gentle nature with enough quirks to make you laugh rather than exasperated.
She can be anxious and needs you to be clear and in charge. She's only guarded a resource once so far in 2011 so she's beginning to learn not to panic.
She's fine indoors with other dogs but doesn't like it if Cracker tries to play or chase too much or too hard. She's quick to tell him off in those situations. She finds it quite frightening I think at the moment although this might improve.
She's learnt to wait at the doorway into the kitchen and not enter. She can also do sit and down (only not on a hard or cold surface! - I told you she had quirks!)

We feel we know Suzy quite well now... and she is certainly worth knowing.
She is a real sweetheart that offers huge amounts of love. She'd do well as an only dog and even with a single person because she just loves one to one attention and isn't that keen on huge amounts of noise and fuss.
She can be quite shy and needs you to take charge so that she can relax but she is eager to please. She loves nothing more than a cuddle in a bed or on a sofa. She can also be quite naughty and nosey... she worked out how to open our stairgate and loves to have a look through the recycling bin for an interesting toy. She'll also raid the bin if you invite her to (in other words, leave it accessible!)
She walks nicely on a lead but she is interested in the wildlife and will pull if she sees something worth chasing. However, she can be distracted from this quite quickly, especially with a treat.
Her recall still needs some work! She absolutely loves to run though!
She's met lots of dogs on walks over the past few days and she will mainly ignore them. If they get too much "in her face" she'll generally hide behind you. She has no objection to children, men or anyone really.
She would rather you didn't leave her. However, a couple of hours with a frozen kong is fine. She would absolutely HATE being left for long periods during the day and would not do well in kennels for holidays etc.
She has been crate trained and uses it beautifully. The door is left open during the day and she always uses this as her space. She sleeps in there during the night and is currently going 7 hours. She's house trained now as well, although as this has been new to her since being here, she still needs letting out at regular intervals to keep up the good work.
She really is the epitomy of "one man (or woman) and his dog." A real companion dog.

We've introduced Suzy to a very submissive 6 month old puppy who is having a positive impact on Suzy.
Suzy is very playful in many ways but will generally only play by herself as she gets very frightened of playing with other dogs. However, Honey is a real baby and Suzy can just about cope with her. We're hoping that as her confidence grows she might be OK playing with Cracker.
She's a lovely girl - just looking for a calm and gentle home where she will be supported enough to let her confidence continue to grow.

Mike has made a video of Suzy having fun with Cracker and Charlie in our park. She has decided it's worth playing but there is one rule: that Cracker has to have something in his mouth so there is no way he can bite her bum (he never has nibbled her bum but she's obviously decided this is what has to happen!) mimsmum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=13844

I was watching playing World of Warcraft tonight and I saw that I have a thread of my own, so I thought I'd better have a go at this updating lark to make sure that everyone out there knows what I want. First of all: I do not like lying or sitting on hard floors. There is no point asking me to do it cos I won't. You might think I am thick or something if you ask me to because I will ignore you. BUT if there is a bit of carpet, I'll do my tricks on that. I can do sit, down, wait and fetch. I can nearly do bow. On Tuesday I am going to dog training which sounds exciting and scary. I think I will mainly watch (and mum better remember my carpet!) the first time (and be embarassed when Cracker yowls at everyone) Second of all: I am fostered with Cracker but we are looking for different forever homes. I want someone soppy who likes making decisions for me. NO SHOUTING allowed. I like men and women just the same. You need to be a bit fit because when I am very, very pleased to see you, I can get very over excited and jump up. You don't need to be superfit though because I am happy to run round and round and round in circles being silly all on my own! I like walks in the countryside. I might like walks in the town but I haven't tried that yet. I mostly walk very nicely on a lead but I can forget sometimes. If we meet anything strange I will want to hide behind you. I like big kids but little kids move too fast and I might get excited and knock them over. Also - big kids leave food lying around in their bedrooms which is a bonus! has just reminded me that they also leave socks, hairbrushes, homework, letters and alsorts around which I also like picking up. If you have any bills you want shredding, I can do that really well. Third of all: I am pretty good at coming back but FM says I am "easily led" so if someone runs off on a chase or decides to start shouting or barking I am likely to do the same thing. Fourth of all: I am still quite a baby and I sometimes get things wrong. I know I am supposed to wee outside but if I get scared or you don't let me out quick, I am not perfect. I know it's wrong though so please don't shout or get cross - I didn't mean it. I also used to get very scared that people would not give me enough food or would take my food and toys away. So - please be clear about what is happening and use my words like "give" and "wait." I do not ever want to me left on my own again please. I am ok if you go to the shops and something like a frozen kong will be OK for a couple of hours but I will cry if you leave me for longer. I would hate to be left in kennels when you went on holiday. I would believe you weren't coming back and get very very depressed. Fifth of all: I am just about beginning to think that playing with other dogs is fun. Sometimes it all gets a bit much and I shout or run and hide. I would happily be an only dog if you give me lots of attention because I only ever play with other dogs outside but if you have other dogs, they need to be really nice and steady. A long time ago I learned that if I squeal like a stuck pig, other dogs will back off. I also pretend to be injured when I am not at all. Sixth of all: I am not that big and I am actually a lap dog with long legs. So - I would like someone big enough (and stupid enough!) to let me sit on your lap. is demonstrating very nicely what is required. I don't need this all the time but it makes me feel fab when it happens. PS - I am also the best roacher in the entire world ever, ever, EVER!
