Today I did find out that I am going to live on the Essex and Suffolk border with a new mummy and daddy. My noo mummy is called Danielle and my noo daddy is called Matthew. He has a funny name as well but I am not telling you what it is. I asked for: Someone who is around all the time. My noo mummy will be around all the time. I will go to friends or family if they have to go away. Someone who is calm and firm and who is going to carry on helping me be happy and confident. They didn't think it was odd when FM said to put a mattress down in the office when I am in my crate on the first night. Someone who is organised and doesn't get in a tizz about me squirrelling things in my crate. They got the idea of "distract me with a treat" pretty well!!! Someone who is going to take things nice and slowly and not expect me to be perfect all at once. They also have a long garden for me to be safe and run about in. They asked for: a cuddly dog who wants to be a companion. a dog who is willing to negotiate with their very bossy cat. The noo daddy let me sit on his lap when they came to visit. So that's sorted then! They got me!

Suzy has left the building and left a big hole in our hearts and our lives. A few last photos: Suzy doesn't sit on just anything and certainly not gravel. She found this old chair in the garden quite early on in her stay here but we never had the camera around to catch the moment until today. A lovely one of her looking just beautiful and finally, with her new mum and dad; Danielle and Matthew. Be happy beautiful girl!

Suzy's first update! We had a great handover with the lovely Cath and Mike - we could tell how hard it was for them to say bye to Suzy but we'll all be meeting up again once Suzy is more established here. We had a very easy journey home with Suzy only seeming slightly anxious. She was an angel all evening, playing with her new pheasant toy and generally laying around! She wasn't interested in her dinner but it's hardly surprising with the new sounds and smells. Suzy met the cat! Matthew had the cat on his lap in the lounge whilst I had Suzy in the kitchen and we just let them stare at each other for a while. The cat was happy to stay in the lounge when Suzy came in and she sat under the coffee table while Suzy sniffed around. When Suzy got too close the cat gave an almighty hiss that had Suzy running for the hills! Suzy wouldn't come back in the lounge for 20 minutes and it was very cute watching her do a little dance trying out different paws over the border line between kitchen and nasty-cat-territory! The rest of the evening I sat on one sofa with Suzy whilst Matthew sat on the other with the cat. All in all it couldn't have gone better - and the cat's reaction was my main concern! Suzy was a dream last night - about 15 minutes of crying at bedtime and then again when I tried to leave the room for a glass of water but she then slept like a baby right through the night. Up this morning to do her business and eat some breakfast (still not very much of it though) and now we are going to go on our first walk. xxx

Such a relief to hear that the cat behaved like we thought it might and Suzy has also behaved as we thought she would. Cracker was definitely leading her astray!!!!
Glad you had a peaceful night and interesting that she cried when you left the room and stopped when you returned so she's already begun to pass the baton over to you.
Enjoy these first special days getting to know her!

We did a lovely hour's walk this morning through the fields - it did me as much good as it did her I think! She was great - no lead pulling and took no notice of the tiny off-lead terriers we passed. She cracks me up with her look of confusion when she walks passed someone and they don't stop to say hello - crazy people! She got lots of admiring glances though - she's beautiful and she knows it! She know fast asleep behind me on her blanket. No phot's yet Wyn as our camera is broken but Suzy's Grandma is coming to meet her on Friday and she's a keen photographer so we'll make sure we get some. xx

Lovely update Danielle. Not too much love and fuss as she will start to expect it and miss it when you have to go out. Enjoy your beautiful girlie. I can't believe the change in her from the day she arrived with Cath.

Suzy lounged around for 2 hours whilst I worked and we've just had a game of ball in the garden - she's getting good at retrieving!

Suzy continues to do remarkably well, slept like an angel last night - not a peep out of her. She takes instruction really well and is still keeping clear of the cat We couldn't be without her already! I'll make sure we get some snaps over this weekend xx

;D Just the bestest news. ;D Suzy is one of those dogs that represents the benefit of fostering at it's best. Hat's off and huge respect to Cath and Mike for all their work with her. And big congratulations to you and Matthew Danielle. ;D

Suzy is really finding her feet now! We have been for a lovely walk to the farm shop and met lots of people who all made a real fuss of her. When we got home Suzy was quite vocal and racing around the house which I haven't seen before! Then she tried to chase the cat in garden but luckily she was on lead. My heart was in my mouth! Any advice on how to settle them together appreciated! All in all though everything going very smoothly - I think she is starting to feel really comfortable now and trying it on a little bit!

Danielle and I have had a good chat about the cat. Apart from this incident in the garden, the cat is maintaining its position well inside the house. Danielle is going to do some work over the weekend with the cat and Suzy to encourage Suzy to be distracted from the cat.
