Peppa was back on top form by Saturday evening. No rest for the wicked. Or Lottie. She's been loving charging around in the light dusting of snow we've had here. This is a few bits of video strung together, complete with erm, commentary from Nick. It's Nick's first effort at getting any video clips from the camera to Photobucket. The clips are not as good quality as when we play them on Photoshop Elements, but you can see what a lovely happy little girl Peppa is at least: She has continued to grow physically, and is if anything even more confident. She looks far more grown up in the video, than in some of last week's photos already. I had no idea puppies could be so outgoing, or grow so fast! She had an upset tummy a couple of days ago, poor girl, and Nick had to change the bedding in the crate several times in one night, and let her out a lot too as she had pretty awful vomiting and diarhorrea. I don't know who was more tired afterwards; Peppa for suffering it, or Nick from doing all the cleaning up. That lasted less than 24 hours too, luckily. Yesterday, we both needed an early night and neither of us thought it was even remotely fair to lock her in the crate early and leave her there for a long night - she is still only very young, and can't be expected to last a long night without needing to "go" at least once. (Heck, nether of us can manage it either and we're both fully house-trained adults! ) Nick has terrible tinnitus, and I just sleep like the dead, so rather than risk us not hearing her restless and needing to get out of the crate, Peppa joined the other 3 and slept on our bed instead. Nick made sure he took her out for ablutions in the very early hours, when he woke up himself. She was very good, and all 4 dogs were pleased to be together for the night. It also stopped Lottie from making several trips downstairs to whinge outside Peppa's crate, which is what she does every night before finally coming to bed. Guess where she is sleeping again tonight... Suffice to say, her face is pressed up against Nick's, they are both fast asleep and she is puffing hot little puppy breaths down his neck. Her head is under the quilt completely. Sooo cute! She loves being in a cosy bed in the open crate in the day and is often squeezed in alongside Tig or Lottie, who also regard it as their safe "den". She can go from fast asleep to bounding out within seconds, whenever she fancies a game of "Chase Lottie" or "Steal Log to Chew". Her housetraining is coming along really well now. She takes herself out when needed through the dogflap more often than not, and has even managed one entire day with only 1 tiny wee indoors. As she was completely unhouse-trained on arrival, and has got through cystitis, and a tummy bug of some kind since then, we think she is doing great to have progressed so much, so quickly. ;D Angie

Little Miss Mischief has been busy today. This morning, I discovered it's quite tricky trying to shave your legs while an excitable puppy dances around fascinated by the noise of the shaver and trying to play bitey face with your toes Getting dressed brings its own challenges too, as she loves to grab the clothes you're trying to put on. Or take off. She has a shoe fetish, she's not had anything expensive enough long enough to ruin it - yet - but she's really quick at pinching one of the pair you are putting on and running off with it. Nick spent an hour looking for one of his yesterday. I forgot to shut our bedroom door for about 30 mins tonight, while we were eating downstairs. Doh! Peppa pinched Nick's reading glasses off his bedside table, and chewed off both plastic earpieces. While she was at it, she had a bit of go at the book he's been reading too. We have hundreds of books here, why did she have to chew a Library book??? She also pinched his watch but didn't have time to do that too much damage... On the plus side, only one little pee and one little poo indoors today, she's taken herself out through the dogflap every other time without us either prompting or accompanying her to the patio. And she was as good as gold confined to the kitchen and dining room with the others, while we popped out shopping for a couple of hours this afternoon. The last few times the dogs have been left on their own, we haven't shut her in the crate - and she's been fine each time. ;D Angie

Subject to paperwork all being OK, Peppa will be being collected on Wednesday by her new family. They sound lovely on the phone, and are completely smitten. We're making the most of our last few days of puppy cuddles, And Nick was trialling contact lenses anyway. But I think new glasses are in order. My fault for leaving the door open and not noticing how suspiciously quiet it was... Angie

And your dogs are a credit to you the way that they accept new dogs in. Kleenex on Wednesday then She has come on really well, I'm very proud of her, she's got a place in my heart for sure. It's rare to find any animal so trusting and loving as Peppa, you can't help but love her. The dogs are a credit to Angie as much as if not more than me, she's very level headed and knows her stuff. She's trained me very well I sometimes realise. Kleenex? Have you seen my nose? Kitchen roll mate, and lots of it. They are a lovely family, and all being well Peppa will be going to live on the Isle of Wight. Near the beach. Jealous am. Don't suppose I could be adopted near a beach please Jenny? Please. Isle of Wight - oh goody ;D ;D ;D Harumph. All right for some. Now limp off and make yourself a cuppa while I finish my bottle of Viognier... Nick (hic)

I tempted fate with the shoe comment. Me and my big mouth... I had carefully made sure my day to day work shoes were safely out of Peppa's reach (which is pretty impressive, it must be said). But then I moved them while looking for something else and forgot to put them back. How I wish I had a memory. Still, it will save me re-heeling them yet again! Peppa had one and thought the little leather tab on the back of the heel was yummy. Laces were a bit chewy though. Left soggy but usable. And luckily my work trousers are quite long so I can get away with wearing slightly chewed shoes until I can get to the January sales! Not that I need much excuse for that. ;D She didn't think she'd done a quite thorough enough job on Nick's glasses either. She went back and had what was left of them off his bedside table again sometime last night, and managed to get one of the plastic lenses out, which we later found on the carpet. This girl's shaping up to be a real pro. We measured her again tonight, cos she's growing like topsy, those growth plates in her legs have been busy. Peppa was 19" tts on Sat 27 Nov, when we collected her, and today, barely 16 days later, is 21 1/2" tts. ;D Some grumpy old bloke Nick is going to take some more photos of her tomorrow. Angie

Peppa's new family are still super-excited about collecting her - but have had to re-arrange for Sunday. Peppa will be their first puppy and they want to make absolutely sure they are properly prepared for her arrival and everything is ready. Some of the things they have decided to get for her more recently are taking longer to be delivered than expected, both because of the weather and because of Christmas delays. This includes getting a dog flap like ours fitted before she comes. We used to live in a house where the back door could stay permanently open for most of the year, but were exceptionally lucky to be able to do that. The dog flap was one our higher priority changes when we moved here just over a year ago, and I don't know whether we or the dogs were most glad of it! So we have a few more days of this lovely little girl's company, and are so pleased that Mary, Jacob and their children are taking the extra time to put her needs first. ;D ;D ;D Meanwhile, a few photos to show just how fast she is growing and changing. How gorgeous is she? (The red collar she is wearing is much bigger than the one she came in!) She still likes to hang out with Lottie best of all... Showing off the legs which have suddenly put on a growth spurt. And that little puzzled wrinkly face is just adorable. What you can't see is the muscly puppy bum growing too. I will trim her nails before she goes, and she'll have her 2nd vax and KC dose on Saturday, at our vets. Also gives us time to stock up on tissues. Herself had a lovely time with a part full box she found in our bedroom this evening. Luckily, it's tired her out a bit for now, so she's fast asleep tucked up next to me while I type. Angie
