Found in the same area as the Shed Dogs and put into holding kennels. The Relief Warden thought that she was an adult whippet The Relief Warden was soon corrected by the Warden, who immediatley rang us and asked if we would be able to take a young 10-12 weeks Lurcher whippet x into care. Nick and Angie are taking her in today. ;D

Horrible when several dogs appear from the same place - I can't help worrying if there are any more out there...

Great that little Peppa will be safe and warm - such a baby wouldnt have lasted long in this cold.
Can we publicise the postcode or area where these chaps were found....people will be extra vigilant when out with their dogs?

Poor little Peppa. It's not very likely a young puppy at that age would manage to pull through another night in those freezing temperatures but at least she is SAFE now. The dog wardens where they all have been found are probably very much aware of the situation and doing all they can and search for possibly more dogs who might have been abandoned - but let's hope I am WRONG! : Thanks, Nick and Angie, for taking this poor baby in. Viviane. X

I hope they can get some prosecutions if they know who owned that shed or they'll just go and get more dogs and do the same thing.

Safely collected this lovely lass from Jackie this morning, in the sleet, at Swindon. Huge thanks to Jackie for taking her in from kennels on Tuesday and taking great care of her until we could meet up. She only whined for a few minutes then quickly settled down for the rest of the journey home, I think she liked the hot water bottles we'd put under her blankets. We called in at our vets on the way home, and were lucky enough to get a slot. Our vet also thought at least 10 weeks, and probably 3 months, but she definitely has a UTI, so we managed to get her started on antibiotics for that today; she can't have her vax till her cystitis is sorted. (Jackie tipped us off that she suddenly started drinking a lot in the last couple of days and was leaving patches of smelly wee everywhere, even when asleep. She's also a bit red around her girlie bits.) We are taking her back to vets next Saturday, and they'll check her pee to make sure all is clear before doing 1st vax and chip. They didn't want to chip her on her very first visit and potentially alienate her - instead she got given some little puppy treats and lots of fuss. Fantastic. What can we say about her? First impressions are of a puppy that has been well fed (10.9Kg) and socialized, and not been deliberately mis-treated. She's bright, confident, very cuddly and one seriously laid-back young lady. She's got a good set of lungs too. She does need a bit of a wash, and her ears need a clean, but we'll deal with that tomorrow. Bags of confidence with other dogs - even Lottie, who is at least 3 times her weight and boisterous with it! Lottie loves playing with her and it seems to be mutual. She explored the house with me on arrival while Nick took our girls to the field to take the edge off their exuberance before being introduced. She stood up well to all the excitement of the introductions, then after lunch and a snooze in her crate (which she marched into quite happily) amazed both of us by charging through the dog flap from outside; (she just followed the others), and two minutes later, shot out of the kitchen through it too. She had the dog flap sussed all by herself within one hour of getting here. ;D Not long after that, she leaped onto Nick's lap, (who was having a much needed rest in his reclining chair) crawled up him and buried her face in his beard, then promptly fell asleep. And here she is, as I type, just dropping off again, underneath the computer desk. What a sweetie, someone's gonna be lucky with this one! (Just give us enough time to house train her, which she does need, and she'll be the easiest young dog you could hope to adopt) Angie & Nick

Well done for taking her in She's gorgeous! Is it just me, or does she look like Ripley when he first came in?

I sometimes despair of the human race. Peppa's obviously been someone's pet, as she was well-fed and socialised, so why throw her out in these temperatures ? And when I look at the pics of some of the other dogs SLR has taken in, words fail me. Peppa is lovely, though, and I'm sure she'll soon be with a loving family and will love them in return.
