Anil had a look over Elly today and agreed that the tumours are starting again near the end of the op site. She has two small ones so will just monitor them and see. She was a poppet at the vets. She didn't wince once and Anil had to squeeze her head wound. She enjoyed herself at the Lurcher link lure coursing on Saturday and was barking excitedly when the other dogs were running. She was weighed today and has hit the 25 kilos mark, so Miss Elly must NOT put on any more weight. We might have to change her name to Miss Piggy ;D ;D

A small amount of rotundity hurts no one, surely? Or is that just me?
Seriously, though, I'm more worried about Jack and Honey's weight and fitness - because of the effects on hearts, joints, etc - than I am about my own. Are we all like that - hypochondriacs on our dogs behalf but blase about our own health?

At the rate she is going, she will attain the mental age of 3 months old by the time she goes to the bridge. ;D I took this film last week. Elly has come on leaps and bounds and we now call her the big puppy. She gets lovelier and lovelier every day. She is now so cheeky and playful.

Madam has had a lovely walk. She did, not sure the rest of the group did Elly had the devil in her this morning, and has now become a full fledged born again puppy She ran like the wind , couldn't slow down on the approach past Mim so JUMPED OVER her We couldn't believe what we were seeing. She was barging everyone, doing a little Sykes to get them to chase her and almost rolled poor Meg who was on the lead. It was stand your ground and don't move time. She really has become a puppy again. We couldn't stop laughing, even though we were in danger of being knocked flying by the now 26.5 kilos Ellypup ;D She did circuits, counter-circuits and stopped and wagged and pounced. And what a smile on her face. I promise next time I won't forget the camera. I can thoroughly recommend Vetzyme High Strength joint tablets and Holland and Barrett multi-vitamins, and OF COURSE Burns complete. I love that puppy ;D

Yes Jean, Elly has thrown up a few concerns over the last week. She has lost her appetite and only eats half her dinner. I have noticed blood around her poo, and it has been quite solid so thought best to have a check-up. I went with Barney armed with a list in case I forgot anything. Her teeth, although very caked in tartar show no infection, but her gums were pink. She has little vision in her right eye and blurred vision in her left eye. She is going deaf, but she is an old lady. Her front joints are very fluid and her back hips are very shot. She has dipped in her back since last time Anil saw her as her hips are worn. Reflexes in her feet are very slow, because her legs are weak. Anil has taken some blood tests this morning and will get back to us later today with any findings. She had a rectal examination in which Anil has found some hard swelling and which is bleeding slightly. So, we just wait and see. She is on anti-biotics and will have just a low dose of metacam for now. She had such a lovely day out yesterday and kept up with us all, but I think that she may have to be left at home for future walks as her little body suffers. I'll let you all know what the blood test results are. Mattie, more reiki please.

She did have a lovely day yesterday; she was alert, and active, and interested. Even when we'd finished and were back in the car park, she was still pottering about paying everybody little royal Elly visits (including the odd passing Rottweiler!).
Fingers and paws crossed for Elly. She's a beautiful old thing.

The blood test has come back and nothing major detected. Thank god, as my heart was in my mouth thinking of bowel cancer. She is such a tough old dear, and we have been through a lot together, I am relieved. She has perked up a little this afternoon and doesn't want to lay down, but be next to us all.

Glad Elly's blood test came back not to bad, as you said maybe she just need to slow down a bit I remember how well she did to do the walk in Trent Park. She is a lovely old lady, and its so nice she has lots of TLC in her twilight years. I am sure she still has lot of happy days to enjoy, and the warmer weather will make her old joints feel better, I know the feeling may be there is some metacam for me!

Saturdays and Sundays are not fast days in this house. We make tea and biccies and all and sundry descend on our bed. Elly has started pacing up and down at the bottom of the stairs and giving little cries because she can't get up. So......... all 26 kilos of Elly was carried upstairs this morning to join us all for some tea and biccies in bed. She was like the cat that got the cream. She had a good sniff around everywhere and stood up on the bed and looked out of the window and then decided that she just wanted her dad. ;D Going down was a bit hairy, so it won't be happening too often. :-
