Thank you Christine.
The family are heart broken it did not work out but felt this was the best decision for Zia. We are targeting Saturday for the return and once a new thread is up and running I shall post some new photos - I finally figured out a few weeks back how to post sensible sized ones! The resident hound has a few more days of peace before Princess Play Ambush descends on him, quite literally sometimes!

A shame for the family and for Zia but possibly for the best in the long term. Thank you Sarah for taking her back at least that gives her a little continuity.

Zia arrived back in Berkshire late this afternoon. She was so pleased to see Harpo again it was sweet. They had a brief run/skid around the garden which is like a mud rink with all the recent rain. She seems to be settling back in well, so much so that I changed my plans and went out for about an hour for a few provisions. All calm and peaceful while I did. We will be getting back to a routine over the next few days, including continuing training started during her first stay. Tomorrow is forecast to be a cold and sunny day and hopefully I shall get some more photos to post. Zia and Harpo waiting for their dinner earlier.

Zia continues to settle back in. She slept through last night. It is almost like she has returned from a seasonal holiday. This morning I was going to start training at the secure paddock we use, but Zia was enjoying being off lead in a bigger space again so much I decided to let her be a dog, so lots of chasing around with Harpo, sniffing and exploring. Thankfully no foxes appear to have enjoyed the paddock recently! Still early days but pleased she is remembering and abiding by the house rules.

Perhaps she prefers to be off lead so that she can either say hello to other dogs or come and shelter by you. xx

I agree Jenny. We have been working on recall, although not helped by the weather. I quickly abandoned training this morning as the long line was so wet and muddy it was unmanageable plus we were both soaked and getting cold! Roll on some drier days and ground. Since Zia returned we are also attending a weekly dog socialisation class run by Jo at the Dog Trouble Centre - where I sometimes see Christine. The class is helping build confidence for both Zia and I. Zia is such a sweet, affectionate hound and continues to be a good house guest. x

Such a pretty girl Much prettier now she has filled out with good food and gained some muscle from regular exercise. I am hoping her 'cover' photo can be updated as she has progressed so far from the dirty thin waif presently shown, the one that Emma and her family took in three months ago.
