Such lovely pics and he looks as though he is settling well. Of course with Molly and Keith we would expect nothing less. Well done all.

Yesterday afternoon we took the gang to Upton Park where they have a fenced area for dogs. We thought it would be an opportunity for Tatty to be off lead and have a play with Hugo and Lorna. It did not turn out as we expected. We let him off the lead and he ignored our two, spending most of the time looking through the fence interacting with other dogs going past. He did run after a tennis ball a couple of times, but wasn't that bothered. The grass was almost non existent as the area has been overused before the grass got established, good job the mud was fairly dry!
I think the problem when he does go off lead will not be that he doesn't want to come back, but rather that there will always be just one more dog to run over to and say hello! You'll have to be quite sure he's bonded with your group so that will be the stronger influence. Of course it's very nice that he is confident and friendly with other dogs, but his recall will need work!
Another peaceful night, and he's getting used to our routine. He's much more ready to lie down and relax after the morning walk, but is still choosing to lie down near me, rather than join the others lying in the sun in the lounge. Obviously he will relax his invisible string with time. He still hasn't mastered the stairs, even with a sheet down over. Now that he can see food is readily available he does not seem so ravenous, but each of them wants a bit of what is in the other's bowl!

Just checked in for my Tatty fix. He sounds like another 'daddy's boy'... I wonder when will Mollie get a mummy's boy/girl?? If he's not overly motivated by a ball, perhaps you need some pilchard cake to tempt him back? Good job he's only a wee fella Keith, otherwise carrying him up the stairs could be an issue...don't feed him up too much!!

'Yesterday afternoon we took the gang to Upton Park where they have a fenced area for dogs.' Yes Keith this is for the away fans, and isn't West Ham a long way to go for a walk.

If no coat I will look in the stock. He was panting here with the heat so I think he is used to being in a cooler environment.

Thanks,Jenny. Let's see what Philipa produces.
At the moment I'm thinking a coat suitable for a dachshund as his body is so slim but long!

What a sweet little chap! Considering it was all new and exciting, he settled well in the pub (and I think managed a sneaky nibble of Keith's slice of birthday cake!). Evidently counter surfing tendencies.

Yes, Tatty behaved very well on the walk considering he was new to it all. A collection of 40 or so Lurchers didn't phase him at all. He saw it as so many new friends to make, especially after he had checked their bits! Even the one or two who were not keen on his advances did not deter him. On the walk he did pull, but that was just excitement, and it helped Mollie keep up with the pack! In the pub he did settle down after a while, but of course he got up to see what was afoot every time anyone passed.
The positive note to make is that he was not put off by the crowd and limited space, would lie down close to other dogs, and did not react when another dog said keep away.
He does get excited and Yelp, while bouncing on his hind legs, when he sees other dogs having fun, but I'm sure he just wants to join in, and when he can go off lead will thrive on all the running around.
Philppa brought along a red coat for him which fits well, thanks.

Lovely little lad. Seemed to respond well to all the new experiences so just needs the right new home to come along. As a rather handsome bedlington/whippet, hopefully it won't be too long. (Scruffy, Maisie and Ariel (Ellie) - my fosters with that mix - were all in and out within 6 weeks - even with spaying ops).

Lovely natured dog. Seemed well socialised and was well mannered and gentle when taking treats.
Walking on a loose lead needs work. I've not seen Molly jog before...
