Jake came in today. He was in holding kennels, and although a lovely lad would have stood no chance outside of a dedicated Lurcher Rescue. The Black boys just don't appeal to members of the public in mixed Rescue. He is beautiful. Picked up by Sara today, he is being fostered in Hampshire along with her own two Lurchers. I'll leave Sara to fill you in on Jake. But all is good.

Big long giraffe legs that he doesn't know what to do with and is about 25/"26" - to me and my little Kezzie Whippetty thing - that's BIG!! And he never sits still !!!
He's an absolute perfect nature - very, very friendly and wiggly (as Romi said). More to follow this evening.

Day One - a long day for Jake but it must have had the right effect because 19.33 and he's flat out on his bed! This time last night I was in posession of a giraffee on drugs! Yeaaaahh!!! Early morning trip to the vets. All OK. Microchip hurt a bit but otherwise masses of tail wagging. Long walk on leader and short walk through fields and sheep - all ok. He is an absolute perfect dog on the lead. Walks right alongside you and does not pull at all. Car trip up to Cirencester - all dogs present - and he sat in the car quiet as a mouse and was also good when I had to leave them for a meeting. Long walk evening and in a bid to get more than 3 hours sleep tonight I felt confident enough that he wouldn't disappear so allowed him off the lead in the 100 acre stubble field (!) for a 90 mph tear about with Kezzie - bit out of control but seems to have done the trick. He did bolt off after a pheasant but came back instantly and I think if Kezzie hadn't been at the control button helm he wouldn't have bothered chasing it at all. He's good with his grub. Wolfs his down but doesn't attempt to steal anyone elses. Did nick my millionaire shortbread earlier but that's probably my fault for leaving it on the counter top! Clean in the car and in the house and I think that for all he's been in kennels for a week he's seen a sofa before - or maybe it's just in-bred. In short - he's daft as a brush - young and gangly legged but not without a brain and catches on pretty quickly so far to what's ok and what's not .... he's quite boisterous with Basil but perhaps when he gets his bits off next week he'll calm down on that score a bit - likes Kezzie and she's always up for someone that will play chases!

He looks like an absolute cracker . Such a shame the black ones get over looked ... the same happens in the greyhound world too ... they're called 'bin liners' because they're disposable Good luck little man, you deserve lots of happiness

Guess so - to be honest he's not as bad as Tess - he's alot more biddable but I think because he's so gangly everything is in a larger proportion!
