Well Done Rowan, Brilliant. Hope it does the trick. He looks a really sweet dog. How is his fear of men coming along?

Wonderful video of Woody, that Coldplay song always makes me cry and it was even worse watching the pictures of Woody, it was a mixture of happy and sad tears I have to say. I have posted it on my Facebook page. He is a gorgeous dog, I hope that he finds his forever sofa soon.

i have also shared this on facebook too, what a touching and emotional video to Woody he really is lovely and the video makes you realise just how special he is, it is very emotional to see him with his bandaged foot but still being so happy , wagging his tail and not letting it all get him down, he already looks and seems so much happier compared to his original photos, you are doing a superb job with him , wonderful to see his progress so far, it is very good to hear his foot is starting to look a bit better too, lots of positive healing thoughts and wishes to him xx

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I'm hoping someone out there will see it and realise what a lovely dog Woody is He looks a really sweet dog. How is his fear of men coming along? He is still afraid of my Dad, but we think this is because my Dad works all day, and he doesn't see a lot of him. However, he's improved greatly with my younger brother, who he initially was afraid of, and will now let William touch him/sit next to him without being scared. Also recently a cousin of ours came to visit, and within a few minutes Woody has sitting next to him on the sofa quite comfortably, which is a big step for him. Woody's fear of men/strange people is his biggest problem, but I have to stress it is just fear, and doesn't manifest in aggression. His new owners need to understand that it will take time for him to trust people fully again, but with love and patience he will be a really loyal and loving hound. Dogmad, can I just ask what cross the lurcher second from the left in your signature is? Only he/she seems to look a lot like Woody from what I can see.

Each vertebra has obviously rubbed on the concrete and denuded itself of hair. How is his toe? Has it been removed yet? More importantly from the rehoming aspect how is his 'misandry' coming along? Is he getting used to men any better? Sorry Rowan, For some reason I did not see your last one before I published this. So I have coma back in to edit it. Second from the left of Poppy and self was Trooper. He was my first Lurch back in '86. He was indeed a BIG BOY! 6.5 stone and as you can see not fat. He came from the RSPCA Ringwood and was on death row as he had been there 6 months. The first time I saw him he pressed against the cage and asked for his ear to be scratched. we bonded instantly. Next time I went in he was in the run with 10 other dogs. of course they all come running to the door when a hooman appears but Trooper was having none of it, he literally barged his way throught the pack to get close to me as if to say "B****r off you lot this one's mine". I think he was about 2 when I got him, as skinny as a rake, puked and shat everywhere in the house for three weeks. He died about 6 years later from a cerebral haemorrhage, chasing a rabbit, the correct way for a Lurcher to die! During his life, he fought other dogs, attacked my then wife (he knew I was top dog, but then considered her to be below him in the pack order). Luckily she would not hear of his destruction. I think he must have simply been a HUGE greyhound X'd with some sort of Collie as once when some sheep escaped & I thought the farmer would shoot him for worrying, he actually rounded them up and put them back in the field. In spite of his anti social behaviour he was the most wonderful loving dog and father of George (the tri-colour in front of Poppy in the right hand picture. George's Mum is the little pail Flookie between Trooper and George & Poppy- but that is a story for another time) I still miss him dreadfully even after 17 years. He is on my desk in his pot as I simply don't know where to scatter him (along side his son-- ditto!) Am I daft or what?

Woody's wound has all but closed up now ;D He is going to be staying with Keith and Brenda for the foreseeable future, and possibly, if we can get a homecheck done in Colchester, until he is rehomed. We need that homecheck folks!! Woody went to the Much Hadham Show on Bank Holiday Monday and was a star. Little by little his confidence is emerging.

We popped in to Keith's to visit Woody on Monday after had picked up Sunny, and it was lovely to see him again He was a bit wary when we first walked through the door, but then he suddenly remembered us and went beserk, bless him. He gave us the most wonderful welcome, and I must admit I did have to stop myself crying a few times I really love that boy, and if circumstances were different I'd want to adopt him. It made me feel a lot better seeing him so content at Keith's, and although he kept an eye on Keith, he was happy to be in the same room as him and let Keith stroke him, etc. So I just want to thank Keith and Brenda for looking after him so well and helping him overcome his fear. Fingers crossed the homecheck works out and he can be in his forever home soon. All the Blackmores miss you Woody. Please give the lad a from me Keith
