He has a little patch over each vertebrate on his tail, which is why they look so neat. Actually the hair is growing back now, it's just a bit manky at the moment and hasn't turned white yet. Woody's had a very confusing day today as I've been cleaning the living room, and he couldn't understand why I was doing that, so kept wandering in and out with a confused look. And he also doesn't understand why he now can't go on the sofas for a while. It just makes no sense to him.

I've only just catching up with Woody's progress and what wonderful progress it is? ;D ;D He is looking so much happier As for his toe, we had a similar thing with Judy a few years back. She spent 12 weeks on Abs and NSAIDS and enforced rest, with no noticeable improvement and, in the end, the meds themselves were making her poorly. Finally, a vet recommended amputation and, although I was horrifed at the time, it was the best thing we did Judy was completely healed and back to her old self within 10 days. And, as it turns out, she had a benign tumour in her nail bed which, left untreated for much longer, would have cost her the leg

Woody is back from the vets and is doing OK. The operation went well- he was under for 3 hours but did fine under anasthetic with no problems. Mel said he was very good at the vets, waiting quietly in a kennel before the op, went out for a wee and even let her give him cuddles. Woody's toe was x-rayed, removed and he was also neutered. He's quite woozy, panting a lot and crying, but he must be in a bit of pain, bless him. He practically hoovered down his dinner of burns, rice and scrambled egg, he was obviously ravenous! We've put him in his crate for now as he keeps trying to run everywhere. He'll be on ABs and painkillers from tomorrow. We've been told the wound is tight and has tension in it, so for a while he has to have very restricted exercise- no jumping, going upstairs, only out in the garden on lead, to prevent the stitching from splitting open. We saw the x-rays, and could completely see that the toe was far from healing. Where the other toebones looked clear and white on the picture, his broken toe bones were grey and barely visible. He had a kind of messy lump of bone at the top, a large gap and then a jumble of bones at the bottom. If it had been healing there would be new growth over the gap and there was none at all. The toe was pretty much defunct, and we know he'll do so much better now. Hopefully he'll feel a bit better tomorrow. Please send healing thoughts to our big lad.

Mend soon lovely lad. Special from Erin, who promises that once you're fully healed you'll not notice there's a bit missing!

Sorry for the belated update. Woody is coping OK, he's not in any pain and with the help of a buster collar we've managed to stop him licking the wound (buster collar isn't much fun though, it makes him even more clumsy than usual! ) However, much to our disappointment, the wound is still oozing a clear liquid today, when it should have dried up, so he will have to go back to the vets tomorrow, probably to have it rebandaged. So keep those healing thoughts coming, he needs them! Woody is very happy in himself, still the same loving, cuddly boy, such a clown and yet well behaved around the house. He continues to improve around men- last weekend our cousin came over, who is tall and physically to a dog could seem imposing. However within minutes of his arrival Woody was sitting on the other end of the sofa to him with Rowan, and even then allowed Logan to give him some fuss. Considering this happened in minutes, it was a massive step forward for Woody, and we were amazed and chuffed. He is proving time and time again that with the right encouragement and handling his fear improves in leaps and bounds. While it's gratifying for us to see this, someone is missing out on bringing Woody on for themselves, and we really hope he finds a new home as soon as possible. I can truly say whoever takes Woody on will have a total heart dog in every sense of the word, a true soulmate. Woody's whole world revolves around his owner, to him the sun rises and sets with them, and he would follow you anywhere. (Literally, he does follow you everywhere- he sticks to us like glue! ) None of our fosters, as loving as they were, have been so people orientated as Woody- all he cares about is being with you. I hope someone sees how special he is very soon. We have some pictures of post-op Woody (looking very sorry for himself all bandaged up) that we'll post later on.

Hope he is back to 100 per cent soon.Lots of and cuddles Woody. If we were not so full with three and a foster on the way I would have him like a shot he is beautiful. But I must be sensible... Dam it.

Woody's foot isn't healing as fast as expected, so he's now having to have his foot bandaged daily to make the wound healthier. This will stimulate the healing process and will hopefully mean his foot will heal quicker
