Jenny, in this heat and considering what a wonderful boy Buddy is, a cold shower will not help one little bit! Eh Sara?

Why do you keep sending me all the lovable ones Jenny!!! I am struggling - do we, don't we, do we, don't we?? Having Buddy here is absolutely no different to having two dogs - and I always thought that we would find it hard to cope with three.

I don't think you are meant to be encouraging me Karla! Buddy had a little accident on our bedroom carpet this morning. I don't think he has really learned how to ask to go outside. He also must have been very hungry as he sneaked back in to the house when I was letting them all out in the garden for a wee first thing and stole a fresh new loaf of bread off the work surface. He still managed to eat all his breakfast too though.

Struggling/resistance is futile, you should know that by now! If you dont keep him I will have him back here and I can't manage four so it will have to be you Sara. With your baby turning 18 you need a new little one to mother! Seriously whoever gets this young man will be so lucky. Christina & the girls xxx

I am weakening by the day Christina!! (I'm sure Jenny never looks in this section so won't spot this and pounce on me with her cold shower threats again!! ) We had a bit of a special moment this evening. He played with me on the sofa. He was rolling about and batting at me with his paws and wagging his tail furiously. He hasn't played with either Cleo or Max yet. It was so cute. And he made us roar with laughter. Max was taking up the whole sofa, so Buddy climbed up and perched on the arm of the sofa, then managed to lie down on it. Just look at him!! (Blue bandage is due to a small cut near his nail that he just won't stop licking.)

Buddy has his 10 day post op check at the vet this morning. His itchiness seems to have subsided, but he has a very red elbow which he keeps scratching. Will let you know how he gets on.

Buddy's op has all healed up fine! I weighed him and he has put on a kilo in the last 10 days! Finally managed to upload the pics from Mistley the other weekend. And there are 2 from today after eating some chicken drumsticks in the garden. Apologies for strange purple tinge - I haven't dyed Buddy - my camera phone is just rubbish! Running with Max ...... Drinking ............. Handsome boy ...... More drinking (it was very hot) ........ Hanging out with Max ............. Smiling after his chicken drumsticks today ........... A rare shot of all three together - they were hanging around wanting more chicken!! .............

We took Buddy along to a small local fete yesterday which had a dog show class. He took everything in his stride, was fantastically behaved, and let himself be fussed by all and sundry. No placings for any of ours in the dog show (there was only one class) but they enjoyed watching the tug of war at the end (very exciting!). This morning Buddy has been very bouncy, and he has been lurcher wrestling with Max! We had to stop as it was indoors. They couldn't go out and play as they had just eaten and they would have ended up tearing around the garden flat out. But they then lay down together and started playing bitey face - look!! I love the fact that he is getting more and more confident to play.

Buddy is gaining in confidence all the time - he was playing full on with Max and Cleo in the garden this morning! He would like to thank his SLR doggy friends for a lovely time at the Mistley safe field this morning - he had a brilliant time, and is absolutely pooped this evening! The sofa is soooooooo comfy! Fast asleep despite the flash going off in his face several times!!

Buddy is changing a little bit more each day. It's so interesting to think we have only had him here 3 weeks, and he is so different today to how he was yesterday. I was at home all day Tuesday, and he wasn't confident enough to play properly with Max or Cleo, although he did start to play every now and again, but stopped almost straight away. Today he is doing lots of bitey face and wrestling with Max - he trys to play a lot indoors but I stop it as we don't allow mad lurcher play in the house. Usually when I come home he just stands quietly wagging his tail. Today he got very excited and bounced about on the sofa and off again and tried to keep playing with Max. So - he seems to change almost hourly at the moment as he grows in confidence. It's lovely to see his progression, but we need to keep a careful eye that he doesn't get above himself as he flew at Max last night in the living room when our food was around. No damage done, but I think it shocked everyone - even Buddy! He continues to be very good on his walks, checking back to see where we are every now and again, and never going far. His fitness levels need buildingup as he spends a long time panting wildly after each walk - not just the heat, as it's much cooler here this evening after torrential downpours of rain. Gorgeous Buddy. What will you be like tomorrow I wonder??

I have been talking/emailing Jenny as I am very interested in giving a loving permanant home to Buddy. I lost the other man in my life Dylan to bone cancer at the age of 9 last year. I have another lurcher Molly who is still grieving for him and after 8 months now i started looking for another 4 legged friend today and stumbled across Buddy. Both my lurchers were rescue Dylan was RSPCA and Molly Dog's Trust. Molly was unwanted but Dylan was ill treated and had had a horrible start to life and it took us years of love and patience to bring him out of his shell and into the most delightful dog ever. When i read Buddy's profile it hit such a cord that i ended up in floods of tears and once i had pulled myself together I rang Jennie. I have a little girl who is nearly 5 and two Indonesian street cats (also rescues) from when we used to live abroad that i could not bare to leave behind when we moved back to the UK. If you do decide to rehome him please consider us as a candidate xxx

Hi Natalie - welcome to the SLR forum! Jenny mentioned you had been in touch. Sorry to hear you lost Dylan last year. If you have any questions about Buddy please don't hesitate to send me a personal message (pm) by clicking on the little symbol under my pic of Cleo and Max.

Well - every time I think Buddy is playing properly, he takes it one step further! I had tears in my eyes watching him play with Max today. He had such a happy look on his face, and his whole body language was so different - really joyful! He loves to do full on wrestling and bitey face with much growling - then he scoots off at full pelt round the garden and Max follows him - and they start wrestling again. Cleo just watches them as if they are mad! Buddy and Max have also had great fun digging a hole together. Bless them! Another one to fill in. Sigh! (They have a designated digging area under an old tree, but they much prefer to make holes in the middle of the lawn!!) Buddy's coat has changed colour quite dramatically. He was very grey before, and now he has much more of a slight reddy beige colour coming through - not sure why though?!? Will try to take my camera out next time they are playing - it is so lovely.
