Thank you so much Richard and Nichola for taking him in. Had he stayed here my heart too would have completely been smitten. He is such a little man with a big character and heart. Hopefully, with some good food, regularly light exercise and tlc he will start to flourish. As we said yesterday, it is going to be a few weeks before we can be certain how the legs are going. So you have the little man for a while yet.

Gor! He's got a really cheeky face hasn't he? There's a sense of humour in there waiting to come out I shouldn't wonder... Aw. Good to see him relaxing too.

Thought we would give some advice to anyone thinking of adopting Paddy but are put off by his deformity. We adopted Poppy from SLR and she had a similar deformity of her right front leg. You can see pictures of it on the Peg Leg Poppy thread from 2008. Poppy is doing really well. Her deformity has not hindered her in any way since we've had her. She runs like the wind and can outsprint any dog in the village.
We feel that by allowing her the freedom to exercise and run every day has allowed the muscles and ligaments to develop and strengthen the joint area naturally.
As this is a congenital deformity and not due to a break/dislocation it would seem that there is no real weakness in the joint.
If she walks for long periods on hot surfaces during the summer ie tarmac she does get a sore spot on her pad which we have to watch and this seems to be the only problem she has.
Otherwise she is a delight and has the usual lurcher traits. Just look a Chris's slippers to see how she loves to pinch them.
Paddy will make someone a great companion so do not be put off

Hello,
Just thought we'd give you a quick update on how Paddy had got on over the weekend.
His personality has started to shine through and he is a real little darling, and quite bolshy! He's certainly not scared of our big boys!
His toilet training is coming on a treat and although he's had a few accidents he's starting to let us know when he wants to go outside.
He's becoming a lot more mobile and is starting to trot along nicely; his flat feet are not a hinderance at all!
He certainly likes his food and has been enjoying sardines, mince and pasta.
More photos to follow soon!

Brilliant Richard. Try and resist too many cuddles I bet Nichola can't. Hope Chas and Patch are holding their own.

We have now had Paddy one week....how time flys when your having fun!!!! The little man has really come out of himself. He has a very cheeky personality, and loves people and is not scared on anyone. He likes nothing more than playing with/winding up Chas. All the good food, is having a very positive effect, he is full of life and has no problem getting up and down stairs, plus he bounds around with great aplomb. This toilet training has progressed really really well and after just the one week mistakes are very few and far between. (has even gone through the night with no accidents) He is not phased by any household appliances, takes them all in his stride. As you can from the following pictures he is making great progress and has settled in very well... Exploring the garden So you can see his front legs & feet Cuddle time! They do like each other really! What a cheeky monkey He'll make someone a wonderful pet

what a fantastic update on Paddy , GREAT photos! he already looks alot more relaxed and settled and has lost much of that terrified lost look about him, glad he is making good progress in all areas, it is excellent to hear he is gaining confidence in himself and learning new things every day. Is it us or has he grown a little bit?? we hope he has put some weight on .... hope Paddy has a good week, sounds like he loves his home comforts and is a lovely boy

He looks far too comfortable and spoilt. Crack the whip man. He'll grow up like all Lurchers, a wuss. (I do realise all and sundry will now bring the roth of "oh no they're not" on me ) Go ahead punks, make my day. It's gonna be hard to let that one go. And like most fosters, they find that once the foster dog has been insitu for a while, they just blend in and then it is soooo natural for them to stay. Just let me know which option you are taking A. He is up for adoption B. He has blended in.
