Thanks Audrey for the link, I hadn't seen it, it still shocked me seeing those photos though. It makes me so angry and I can't believe that still Ginny looks for cuddles from humans, she should hate us!! However the person that owned them, did one right thing and that was to tie Ginny and Honey up when they did, any longer and I really don't think these 2 beautiful girls would be alive today.
Sally you are right, it was a leap of faith but the difference in Ginny by doing it was amazing. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking back to them chasing and playing with each other today. Just got to make sure that Ginny gets the food she needs due to the amount of energy she is burning. Going to take her to be weighed tomorrow so that when I take her to meet her new vet in a couple of weeks I can see how she is doing.

Another good night with Ginny. Went to our local park early this morning and she had a lovely play with Millie, then home for breakfast. Went to Manor Farm and met up with Romi and her pack, plus another lady (sorry forgot her name already) and her 2. Ginny a bit reluctant at first to meet them all but then was absolutely fine. She was having a great time, even chased a duck in to the river!! However a few minutes later discovered one of her front paws covered in blood Ginny didn't whimper or even limp on it, brave little girl. Took Ginny to vets and she has split one of her pads , and has gone under GA to have it stitched. Had a good cry when I got home because I hated leaving her, we have only had her 2 days and this happens Had call from vets a short while ago to say all had gone well and to pick her up at ten past 6. Just got some chicken in the oven cooking, so that she has something yummy and light for later. I haven't been able to settle at all this afternoon. Anyway better take Millie out for a good walk before getting the patient.

Isn't the power of love and kindness just amazing??? This little girl who only a few weeks ago was starved, literally to the point of death, and totally terrified of everything, can leave her foster home, be with her new mum just two days, play happily out offlead with lots of unknown doggies, cut her pad badly, be left at the vet, have a GA, come round in a strange place AND LICK AND WAG WHEN HER NEW MUM COLLECTS HER?!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Ironically it makes me incredibly happy to read this thread as it reminds all of us of exactly why all that everyone at SLR does is so very, very worthwhile. Especially brilliantly done with this very special and brave little girl Jayne, Wipuki/Big Dog, Rachel, Chris and Millie Looks like you're just going to have Ginny on the sofa for even more cuddles whilst she heals Rachel! How hard is that going to be? Gentle ear ruffles to Ginny from me along with hopes for a very speedy recovery Audrey x

Aaah bless you Audrey. Ginny doing really well, it is quite comical how she lifts her paw up when she is walking due to the heavy bandage, but she has taken it all in her stride!! Apparently she has had 10 stitches to sew up the pad, she had cut it so badly. She really is a gorgeous courageous dog and we totally love her to bits.

How is Ginny today - hope she's feeling better. Sounds like a nasty wound if it needed that many stitches

Just caught up with this Rachel, poor Ginny its always a lurcher thats in the in the wars isn't it. My greyhound has never had an accident or an injury but my lurcher is a different story including a cut foot. So don't feel bad about it I am sure it happens to all of us at some time or another. I am sure they are accident prone for all the attention and special treats it gets them. ;D ;D Hope she will soon be on the mend as with cut pads its usually all vets visits for clean dressings.

Ginny is doing well, can't keep a good dog down so to speak!! She is still full of beans, has got the hang of the weight of the bandage and it is so hard to tell her to slow down, not dig up the lawn, not chase around the garden with your sister etc etc.........! She and Millie had a spat this afternoon , Millie sleeping and Ginny decided she wanted to get on the bed as well and stood on Millie, Millie has a bit of hearing problem and when she is asleep she doesn't seem to have hearing at all (!), so when she is suddenly disturbed or shocked out of her sleep she can react by snarling and snapping, she bit Chris once. It is probably only the 2nd or 3rd time she has done this in the last 2 half years, as we are careful to wake her slowly or make a noise in the room to wake her. So this is what happened and Ginny reacted back, OMG I thought not another trip to the vets, Jayne and Jenny will be coming to take Ginny off me, but it was all noise, they both sulked for a while and then I caught them licking each other so all is well again!! Something to watch out for though. Oh and Jayne it is not just pink slippers she likes, light blue ones also take her fancy!!!!

Nice to know she's still got her slipper habit!! And I'm glad she's getting used to her injured foot.
It's horrible to hear dogs falling out, isn't it? Sounds like World War 3 has broken out, yet they seem unbothered by it all!! As you say, something to watch out for, although she did learn pretty fast here that my dogs were not to be disturbed when they were in their beds. They both like their own personal space, thank you!

Glad to hear that Ginny is surviving her injured pad I can just imagine your thoughts/feelings when it looked as though you had a dog-fight on your hands too oh Rachel, hugest hug!!! Ginny and Millie's spat sounds uncomfortably like me and my sister when we have to share the same space -"But we really DO love each other your Honour, honest we do"! I do hope you get a few calm and peaceful days + a few good night's sleep (well, you can but dream!) Hugs all round
