The spat is actually quite normal in the early days Rachel - ginny just needs to learn the boundaries - which she will Try not to worry about it too much ... when i have fosters in the house there is usually a spat or two (or three or four)

Do not worry about it too much Rachel. Within the first week of me having Rosie, she escaped twice - once running through the streets of Winchester at rush hour (how she did not get hit I do not know); cut her foot badly the second time I let her off lead and got a bad stomach upset which made itself known at both ends. And we were only fostering at the time!! It is a constant learning journey for both of us and has made my bond with her even closer. Stroppy mare.
Millie and Ginny will settle their disputes soon. As Kate says, it is about boundaries and they need to sort those out between them. Millie has been on her own for a wile and will need to adjust to ginny 'invading' her space and Ginny needs to adapt to her new surroundings. You just need to carry on as normal and treat them as you normally would.
Having met you and Millie, I know that Ginny could not want for a better home. Read this in 6 months time and you wil wonder what all your fears were about!!
Best wishes,
Sally x

You're doing a fab job Rachel ;D Having just taken on Ruby I know just how you feel. But dogs are fantastic and dont take little spats personally. Ruby knows her place and lets Poppy tell her what to do. She's got a wonderful home Karenx

Good luck at the vets this afternoon - do you use Animed in Hunts Pond Rd? As everyone else has said please try not to worry too much about the odd spat between your girls - I'm sure they'll be a few more - with 4 extremely laid back woofers in the house here they still occasionally get p#ssed off with each other and have a tantrum, no different from hoomans living together! The difference is that dogs don't hold grudges so peace is restored pretty quickly

Ginny visited the vet this afternoon, wound is looking clean and well, new bandage on, this time bright red (already dirty!) which goes nicely with her new collar Only bad thing that happened is Chris let her say Hello to a Westie, Ginny started baring her teeth and growling and then promptly bit it , I think it was more a warning "nip" on the side of the head, and luckily the dog and owner were okay, I think Ginnys poorly leg let her off the hook!! I think Chris was more in the dog house than Ginny, as he had specific instructions not to let her near other dogs whilst on the lead, until we can get Ginny's confidence up and more socialised.! Ginny now weighing 15.6 kg! Back to vets on Monday for another check and bandage change and then stitches out next Friday. Thank God for pet insurance that is all I can say!

Really to hear that Ginny's cut is healing well As for Chris! These men just can't multi-task can they?! Glad that the Westie wasn't chomped too badly. Overall you've had what could fairly be described as 'quite a lively week' Rachel You are doing brilliantly and Ginny's confidence is growing in leaps and bounds. Keep up the good work! Hugs and ear ruffles all round x

Well a rollercoaster ride with Ginny this week, nipped 3 dogs on Wednesday so after a chat with a knowledgeable person (you know who you are) have muzzled her. She is doing okay with it and I feel more confident in introducing her to other dogs and I think that rubs off on her. Have booked her a 1:1 session with a trainer on Monday to help address the initial meet and greet with another dog and get her confidence up, with a view to starting training classes. Because her foot is so well padded the vet has said that she can come off the lead, so she has been enjoying herself, the one stipulation was not to get the bandage wet!! I made the mistake of taking her through some woods and what did she see, a deer, and off she went straight through a muddy stream!! So back to the vets today for another re-dress! At least the vet was happy that the wound was healing nicely so that was good. Definately is not duck, cat, squirrel or deer friendly though!! As I don't have any of those as a pet that is okay, ignores our budgie so that is good, but don't think she would if he was flying around though! Other than the above Ginny has been making friends and settling in well. No problems as night, and she is getting in a routine with regards to food and walks. She really enjoys going out for her walks, no problems at all with car journeys or vets. She really is a lovely dog and we are (most of the time) glad that she is with us!!

Oh Rachel - you have certainly had an 'interesting' week Huge hugs. Am glad you feel more confident with Ginny muzzled. It's great that she can then be introduced to other dogs without your stress levels going through the ceiling. As for the 'keep it dry' and the muddy stream - there will be many of us who recognize that scenario Look forward to hearing how the meet up with the trainer goes on Monday. Hope Millie is adapting okay to her new sister. Hang in, I'm sure it doesn't always feel like it but you're doing absolutely brilliantly Audrey x

Just re-read my post and I hope that people don't think it sounded too negative!! My "girls" are wonderful, we had lovely cuddles on the bed yesterday afternoon and we all had a lovely snooze together, in some ways glad that there are no photos!! Ginny likes to cuddle right into your neck and Millie likes to lay her head on your legs, so I woke up very hot!! Will try and get some more photos on here later, will take some down the fields on their evening walk! On an annoying note, few minutes after getting home Ginny's bandage had unravelled!! Don't think the vets did a very good job, think I will do it myself from now on!!

She has a combination of chappie/burns and a small amount of nature diet, dentistix every night, and the odd training treat! I wondered if it was the anti-biotics actually, will have to look them up for side effects, phew-weeee!
