SLR have brought Poppy in for fostering. She was going to be rehomed from her own home, but her Dad had become very allergic to her. Poppy was obtained through a mixed Rescue who could not take her back. Poppy is approximately 10-12 months. She has been with her Adopters for 7 weeks, but the husband has become progressively more allergic to her as the time goes on. Poppy is is good with children and people and geneally with other dogs, but has rushed over to a small dog and pinned it down, so needs training not to do this. Poppy is not yet neutered, but will be shortly. She has limited recall at the moment as she is so excited to see and play with other dogs, that she forgets her humans. Poppy loves nothing more than a good run around with other dogs that can match her speed unfortunately she has started to get slightly aggressive with smaller dogs and dogs she outruns and they lay down. Her recall indoors is fantastic but out on open ground or on the beach she only comes when she wants, this leads to problems with her becoming a nuisance to other people (children especially as she just wants to play) and her own safety. She sleeps downstairs at night and is good, and housetrained. She travels well in the car. Poppy needs a Lurcher Savvy home where she will be the training that she needs to make her an all round lovely dog. She is only small, 22" to the shoulder. And very loving. This is Poppy

Some lovely new photos from her mum. This is breaking their hearts. With their son, as Dad can't cuddle her, due to his allergies.

As long as there are no cats cos I don't know her cat status. She is child friendly. She is just an exuberant pup off lead so can pin smaller dogs down. We have all been through that one!!

Having said we don't know her cat status, Poppy has gone into fostering with Christina. And Arnold the cat decided to move back in with them recently, but Christina forgot to tell me!! Poppy woofed at him and Arnold told her to go away. He is standing his ground. Something he has learnt over the years with all the fosters and Christina's own dogs. Poppy will be spending a little holiday with Philippa and Zephyr whilst Christina has a break this week, and hopefully Poppy can get used to Arnold in readiness for her own new home. Her relinquishing Mum and Dad had not had a hound before, and didn't realise that Hounds need less than 20% initial protein when fully grown. Poppy's complete was 38% which may explain why she was so bouncy. Christina has introduced her to Burns so hopefully little Pops will bounce less in about 12 days. Plus, Poppy will be neutered shortly.

Aah the protein. We had that with Rowlf. We kept him on the food the Dogs Trust had put him on without thinking. He was bouncing off the walls!!! Literally!!! Then Jim G came and the first question was food. It was high protein. Switched him to Burns which we had fed our other dogs on. Problem solved - unless we give him pilchards too often!!!

Poppy has been so good, she arrived yesterday afternoon and after saying a very tearful farewell to her mum and dad she came into this 'mad house'. Mia did her usual scared lip curl and air snaps, Jazz just said hello with a tail wag and my little Poppy (which is not helping matters) tried to be a big important dog in a little dogs body . Arnold the cat has had a very insistent nose up his behind several times and a bit of ear washing, I don't think either of them knows quite what is meant to happen when they cross paths. Things have improved and they have all been in the garden, laying in the sun this morning . I have taken lots of pictures but I am not able to load them at the moment Including one of her second roach. We had a lovely if excited walk this morning, Poppy was so keen to have a run with the others but she had to stay on lead. Think if I lost her already Mummy Chook would be upset! This afternoon she came to the council tip to get rid of some garden rubbish and then to the garden centre to buy some runner bean seeds. Poppy was happy to look out the window as we made our way in the car and loved meeting everyone as we walked around. The girls in the pet shop gave her a couple of treats and sniffing all the plants was great fun. Poppy asks to go out when she needs, slept quietly last night and loves company, although she will take herself off to bed if she wants to. By the time this little one has settled I think she will be a wonderful addition to someones family. Photos as soon as I can sort it.

No husband to re-home! One child still here, about to do exams so you can have him if you like Toni! Poppy is now so in love with Arnold she licks his ears and face when she sees him! It's quite funny to see all four dogs decant from the car with the cat sitting on the footpath waiting for his facewash! I had to leave her for a while this afternoon and she had no little accidents in the house at all I can't access my Photobucket account at all which is really annoying as it has all my old foster dogs pictures on it and Alex's computer doesn't have a SD card input so I am hoping to go to borrow someone else's computer tomorrow to get those poppy pictures up on here. Philippa is kindly going to have Poppy next week and she promises she will be on her best behaviour for you Philippa, as always

Poppy is here. Zephyr and she are having a raw hide chew each and behaving very well. They seem to like each other - though Poppy hasn't had the nerve to initiate play with him yet.

Poppy has worn Zephyr out. He and Poppy played all yesterday evening, then again this morning after they got up. We then went for a walk over at the common and Poppy was a big hit with everyone, met about 30 dogs - she wanted to say hello to all of them and absolutely no sign of aggression. Her lead skills are non-existent but she is bright and responsive and is trainable. Both are fast asleep now - so I am having a little peace.

it's really nice to hear how good Zephyr is with this little pup. They are going to have a great time together this week and I'll bet there'll be a few people you meet on the common who will wish they could have her
